Maybe you’ve seen it performed on TV or in the movies, or at a party, or of course right here at Psychic Source. I’m talking about a Tarot Card Reading. It sure looks easy enough, deal out a few cards and explain their meaning to the receiver. But before you decide you want to become a Tarot Card reader you need to understand a few basic concepts and then throw out everything you think you know about Tarot Cards. What? Don’t worry, I’ll explain.
6 Steps Towards Becoming a Tarot Card Reader
Step 1 - Buy yourself a deck. ANY DECK. Read everything you can about it. Read articles, listen to online tutorials, watch YouTube videos, etc. Do this until you feel you have a basic understanding (OR when you feel completely overwhelmed) then put that all aside. Yes, step away from all the knowledge you just read. Now, start to talk to the cards. This is where the magic begins!
Step 2 - Take that deck of yours and shuffle it every chance you get. If you are watching a reality show, ask "Is the bachelor going to give that woman a rose?" Then put down your cards. (I prefer 5 in a row, but YOU make the rules!) There is never a mistake when putting down cards. If it doesn't make sense to you, find the sense. Push yourself to interpret what you see. Don't jump out of the question. Don't force things to make sense. Just read it as you see it. Is this good advice you are thinking? YES. I'll explain why. Learning cartomancy or any form of fortunetelling is learning a new language. You must look at the cards and then interpret what you see in the most succinct way possible. In other words, answer the question with a clear concise answer. Seems simple right? It is, it really is!
Step 3 - Let's look at it another way. Remember when I said put down all the books and knowledge you just poured over? This is crucial to "learn the language" of the cards. As you sit and practice putting down the cards you will gain incredible card association. This is how this is done. You see a string of cards, what thoughts pop up in your head? NO MATTER WHAT THOUGHT POPS IN YOUR HEAD, no matter how ridiculous it may seem, this is the key to your associations.
In the Tarot for instance, you see a knight laying on his stomach with swords in his back. What does this image invoke to YOU? No matter what deck, or imagery you see, find a way to relate! OK, so you say well I haven't actually been in a position where I have 10 swords sticking out of my back MaryJane (thank goodness) but I bet you CAN remember a time where you felt utterly defeated. Think about that time, it doesn't have to be extreme! It could be when you were little, and your mother handed you an ice cream cone and as you ran it dropped and fell on the dirty pavement. It’s THAT FEELING and THAT MOMENT you want to connect with.
Step 4 – Continue your self-exploration through the meanings of the cards you see before you. The cards hold no emotions. They don't hug you or judge you. They tell it like it is. Through time, you will expand your associations with the cards to the point where you will have an ENCYCLOPEDIA OF KNOWLEDGE. You will be fluent in the language of the cards and will be able to take the string of associations and PUT IT INTO A CLEAR AND CONSISE ANSWER. The cards need YOUR ASSOCIATIONS to be able to speak their language. You can even try a one card Tarot Reading, especially if you are looking to manifest love in your life.
Step 5 - Do not doubt yourself. If the thought pops into your head, take it. You will soon be filled with amazement and awe at what you are seeing before your eyes. Never doubt the thoughts that pop into your head.
Step 6 - Experiment. Remember, YOU make the rules! Do you want to shuffle till the cows come home? Then do that! Do you want to talk to the cards like they are your best friend forever? Then go for it. Trust me, you will fall in love with the colorful slips of cardboard you shuffle and put down before you. Break away from all the rules until you make YOUR OWN RULES. There are no tarot police that will say "You can't do that!" If someone says to you "That is not how it is done!" You simply smile and say, “Well, I have never been one to follow the rules. Unless of course they are my rules.” <Wink wink.>
So, pull those Tarot Cards out and say hello to your new friends!
