To fight the blues during the holiday season, I find peace and a special kind of bliss by taking the time to go out of my way to do something unexpectedly kind for others, like making more cookies than normal so I can bring the extra to my little old lady next door that loves sweets. or walking over to my grandson's house in time to read him a story for bedtime. When you think about it, there are so many things that mean way more than a material gift at the end of the year.
To practice kindness and love all year, and then to be able to have a reason for being kind is even more fun! Then you can take the time to go out and spend time seeing all the beautiful Christmas lights with your loved ones. Go shopping and buy them something that they want but won't buy for themselves. Walk around with a gratitude that you are able to do that, that you have the freedom to do that.
In the end, it's not about what you do for Christmas, it's what you do for others this Christmas. It's about giving. And the more you give, the more that flows back to you.
