Tips on feeling more confident
Do you see your own inner and outer beauty, or do you torture yourself with negative thinking and self-talk? Look in the mirror, and what do you see? Do you focus on your beautiful eyes and your sexy smile, or your fat hips, and your expanding waistline? Okay, I am looking at myself now, but seriously, whatever we look at and focus is what we become. Wishing I was Natalie Portman is not going to make it happen. What whatever we focus on will be what's real.
The Law of Attraction in Action
Simply put, the Law of Attraction states that whatever you focus on is what you will create. Your Belief system is what creates your world. For example, when you are heading out of your house and thinking, the bus will be there when I get there, (and not a minute later), just watch as your focus creates the timely arrival of the bus. Your thoughts of perfect timing and the bus's perfect timing are alike and in-tune. Like attracts like.
When I get a call from a heart-broken man asking me why he keeps on meeting the wrong partner, and we come to find that his belief system is that he is “not deserving,” then it is no wonder he continually attracts inappropriate partners. To change this, he could start by thinking “If I want to find the right partner, I have to be the right partner” (Gurudev), raising his own vibrational level to attract partners who are also at this higher vibrational frequency.
Take Care of Yourself
Another powerful way to create more confidence is to be well organized. Prepare yourself the night before; make your snacks; get your outfit ready; and if you see yourself all ready to go the night before, your day will start off on time and when you get to work, you will find everything you focused on already waiting for you. At lunchtime, get out of the office, go for a walk or remove yourself and meditate, and create a stronger mind, rather than focusing on the stress of your job, gossip or negativity.
Have a Sense of Humor
Many years ago I worked as a tour manager, taking groups from all over the world to visit sites in my city and places of worship. There were some days I was feeling down about myself because my life felt meaningless to me. One day when I was feeling especially sorry for myself, I went into the washroom to fix my make up and wait for the pilgrims to come out of their very deep prayer. An elderly woman came over to me, and was trying to tell me something, but I was so self-absorbed that I had no interest in what she was trying to tell me and paid no heed to her kindness.
What she was trying to say was I had tucked my skirt into my pantyhose! Luckily for me, I was early and my bus driver asked me, "Are you planning to get on the bus with your skirt in your underpants?"
I learned an important lesson about about self-confidence: I started taking myself a lot less seriously. When we are able to laugh at ourselves and we lighten up, our lives becomes a lot easier. Why do angels fly? Because they take themselves lightly.
Laugh, enjoy your limitations. It creates a softness, and you become more loving towards others, and towards yourself.
