Unfortunately, this is the reality of life right now… but it doesn’t all have to be doom and gloom!
You've heard the saying that “laughter is the best medicine.” Well, I strongly believe that to be the case. I would like to offer my 5 Laughter Hacks you can use whenever you need to break out of the everyday, smile and get a good chuckle.
1. Laughter Yoga. Attend a laughter yoga event where you are guided by a trained instructor on how to let loose and laugh. Even if you're shy, the laughter from others is contagious! You'll soon find yourself laughing uncontrollably. Make sure to control your breathing!
2. Watch Some Comedy. Watch a silly TV show, viral video clip, stand-up special or a funny movie. A Looney Tunes cartoon starring Bugs Bunny always does the trick for me. I like timeless classics, but also be open to new shows for comedic relief. You can even watch movies that weren't intended to be funny but were, ahem Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones. (Oh yeah, I went there!)
And when all else fails, resort to the classic quote of how to get God to laugh. Tell God/Goddess your plans so that It/They can laugh, to which you can then join in on. In all seriousness, sometimes feeling the full weight of something that is upsetting is wanted or needed... however, there is always a place for laughter in your journey, so remember to make room.
