Most people think of tithing as money you put on the plate that is being passed around at church.
The actual definition of the word "tithe" comes from Old English, which means one-tenth or 10 percent of a part of one's income to a religious organization. In Medieval times, tithe meant 10 percent of one's agricultural products. In the Orthodox Jewish tradition, one tithes 10 percent to a charity.
Tithing in Modern Times
Whenever I experience a lack of prosperity, especially in business and finances, I ask my Higher Guidance what I need to do to attract more business and money in my life. The answer I always hear is to ask myself where in my life is there lack and where can I give of my time, talent and treasure. For example, every time I tithe to my church, I receive emails and phone calls from clients within a day or two requesting my services.
