Currently we have the Sun, Mercury, Mars and Jupiter all sitting in the water sign of Pisces. Jupiter is very happy here, in his own sign…and in this high dignity helps give a “neecha bhanga yoga” (relief from debilitation) to Mercury, as this is his sign of Debilitation.  Mercury exited Pisces and entered Aries on March 28th, but it went retrograde March 30th (until April 23rd).  Mercury backtracked into Pisces on April 2nd and remains there until May 10th. This happy Jupiter is very beneficial to Sagittarians and Pisces rising and Moon signs. MARS entered Pisces on Friday morning, March 25th, and will remain in his friend’s sign until May 3rd, on which date Mars enters his own sign of Aries.

Benefic VENUS will join the group in Pisces – its sign of Exaltation – on April 15th. It is most happy in this sign and will remain here until May 10th, giving yet another Neecha bhanga yoga to the debilitated Mercury. All in all, this Mercury transit through Pisces should not be so bad for him, even though it is his sign of debilitation. On the bright side, Mercury has gone direct again on the 22nd so that bit is pretty much over by the time the Moon comes in. When Mercury goes direct, it is still in the “shadow of the retrograde” for a while, so don’t expect an instant turn around.  But by the 29th things should be starting to get back to normal, at least as far as the retrograde goes, there are still six planets in Aries.

Now the big question: How will this affect you?

First understand that this energy is being felt by everyone, all over the world.  In that way it is sure to affect you through the people you deal with. The most intense degrees will be the 29th through the fourth degree in any sign.  The ones affected by Uranus and the planers that will join him this month will be felt most strongly with planets at this degree in Cardinal signs* and in Fire signs.**

In the same signs, Jupiter will be affecting later degrees.  Jupiter doesn’t really affect anything badly and it mostly is strong and positive.  So planets in later degrees in those signs will find things pretty lucky and generally pleasant in places.

Just remember that all of this energy is happening together, you can’t really separate it.

Adding to this 29th to 1st degree energy we have another really big change going on this month.  Over on the edge of Pisces, Neptune is moving into its own sign.  This will make it very powerful and Neptune’s power is an entirely different thing than the planets in Aries are bringing.

Neptune is the energy of connection with the limitless state of the universal mind. Neptune eats away at ego perception. It defies logic and rational approaches. “This topic seems to come up every so often.  I first started hearing buzz about it in 2007; here’s the thing – it does not really impact Western Astrology. I know it’s kind of confusing – the astronomer {from NBC} is talking about constellations. In Western Astrology when we are referring to a zodiac sign, we are talking about the location relative to the equinox. They’re not talking about the location of the constellations. 

For some people who follow Eastern or Sidereal Astrology, the signs may actually have shifted. By the way; this is old news, hundreds of years old – LOL.

In short for us, the simple answer is our horoscope, and our signs will remain the same. The Washington Post wrote a tasty blog too.”

I have always found my best time of year to be from the Autumn Equinox in September to the Winter Solstice.  For many not only are they celebrating the New Year on Earth; but also their own personal New Year.  Those born in the moths of late September, October, November, and December; all have personal New Year’s happening.

The personal New Year usually starts 1-2 months prior to their birthday; and often times people will feel the pressure that they need to complete things that they have going, there is a tendency to be more tired, and to get very introspective.  It is a time where we naturally reflect on where we’ve been, where we are, and where we want to get to over the next year.  Those experiencing personal New Year’s tend to have a natural attunement to this time of year.

I see the Winter Solstice as a sort of New Year’s for the soul or spirit within us.  It is a time that is designed for quiet and peaceful moments.  A time to look at the beauty of freshly fallen snow on the ground in the stillness of night.  It is the perfect time of introspection.

This year the Winter Solsticeswill fall on December 21st.  It doesn’t always fall on the same day every year.  It occurs when the Sun transits from Sagittarius to Capricorn.  This year we also find a Gemini Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on that day.  What occurs on this day will give us some insight to what is to come for the next 3 months.

The Eclipse we have occurring this year has a tighter alignment of nodes and planets than normal; which will make it’s influences more intense than normal.  Pluto the planet that can affect or shape generations is involved on this one.  So what does all this mean?

It is going to be a time to bring together all the information that we have gathered in the 2 weeks prior, since the New Moon; and transform any difficulties or challenges in our lives into a usable resource that helps us make major transformation.  This is a great time to let go of what is not working or no longer needed in your life.  Be ready for surprises, and new opportunities to start coming in.  It is important to hold off on making major decisions until Mercury gets direct again on December 30th.  With the Gemini moon it is sometimes better to bring your focus to a feeling or state of being as opposed to a setting specific course.  Get the idea now and let the details fall into place after the first of the year.

The Winter Solstice is well noted for being a time of great introspection.  It is the natural time of year to take a look at what we like and don’t like in our lives, to look at our accomplishments and what we would like to accomplish in the upcoming year.  It is a time to look at how we want to grow as a soul and what best connects us with spirit; what fills us to our very core.  It is a time to look at the part we want to play in the next year.

In addition to the influences that are going on the Winter Solstice for me has always been a great reminder of good things to come.  It is the light in darkness.  In olden years it was a time to shed light into nature; when the Lord of Spring took rulership again, and started to make his preparations to find his maiden lady who would emerge in Spring – starting her ascent the beginning of February.  It is the seed that is planted that will show itself fully as Spring and warmer days come to be.  It is when the Lord of Spring first calls his maiden lady to come back to him.  With all this going on is it any wonder we find it a romantic season and our hearts stirred towards love?

Men who embrace the Lord of Spring consciously or unconsciously naturally find themselves much more emotionally open and sensitive and caring during this time.  It is one time of year when even the toughest men will soften up as the Lord of Spring channels through them defeating the Lord of Fall that took rule back in June at the Summer Solstice.

The Winter Solstice is a time that is a magical Winter Wonderland.  It is a time to be in nature, to connect with nature, and feel it’s stirring under it’s winter blanket.  This year I have plans to swap some energy work and to hike the Zion Narrows.  It will be magical with the snow on the tops of the canyon walls, and feeling the energy of the water moving around me.  I love it this time of year – quiet, peaceful, introspective; just as the season calls for.  I will look for a rock in the center of the Virgin River and sit there, eyes closed, and one with nature.

For me Aries have normally always been easy to buy for because they have so much that they want – they are always striving for the next greatest thing in life and their lifestyle needs to reflect that; thus there is always something they need or want.  Now there are a few Aries that are more reserved but usually still a bit on the radical side – such as being involved with green lifestyles or pet rescue efforts.  For these the best you can do is contribute to their favorite charity, get a gift certificate to help them purchase food for animals or to get things for their garden.

For most Aries – any gadget is great; cooking gadgets, new electronics, new technology all great options.  They love things that allow them to be in luxurious surroundings, and things that make them look great.  Whatever is the “it” thing to have will work for most Aries.  Most Aries like fun in the Sun so going boating, waterskiing, sunbathing, all great options.  For those busier execs looking to keep their tan up – a few tanning sessions are a great gift.
