In our modern world we think of ghosts as “scary” or “spooky” but how many times do we really think about the connection between ghosts, the afterlife and our own mortality?   I am a Vala which is to say a wise woman or medicine woman in the ancient traditions of Northern Europe (ie Vikings). Northern European (England, Germany, Scandinavia).

I have a few observations about the based on my years as a medium and on the lore of the Vikings and Northern Europeans. That lore is a lengthy, complex yet fascinating subject that is worthy of more than a few paragraphs.

1. Ghosts are people without bodies

2. Most people when they die don’t “go” anywhere for the most part. This is how incarnate people perceive what happens when the soul leaves the body. MOST Ghosts stay “earth bound” in order to aid and protect their families and friends. Thus the global traditions of grave offerings, mummification etc.

3. Ghosts do on rare occasion go to a non-earth based place.

4. If a ghost leaves the “physical plane” it is usually due to the person being forgotten about. I see it as the ghost has gone to sleep.

5. Suicides cases DO go to hell; the hell is of their own making. They stay stuck in the state of mind they were in when they died. THAT is their hell ditto for criminals etc. They also get ostracized just s in life

6. Ghosts cannot do anything more  than could when they were alive. They CAN do some things they could not before and something they can’t. They do not have “super powers”.

7. The basic personality stays the same. If Uncle Joe was not smart when he was alive, he won’t be too smart as ghost. By the same token, when one becomes a ghost they often times see themselves more clearly and are in an enlightened state.

8. It is VERY crucial to remember our family and friends who have died. When we forget about they no longer want to be with us. Just as in life no one likes being ignored.

9. Valhalla or Heaven is more of a state of consciousness than an actual place.

10. Ghosts often work to make up for the wrongs they did in life.

When people have lost a true love they feel abandonded, alone, and  forlorn. They ask their love “Why did you leave me?!”  “Why did you die!”  Memories of their lost love fill their days and haunt thier dreams leaving them with the sense of not being totally alive yet not totally dead. They are in essence “walking between the worlds”.       

The greif consumes them so much so that they seldom are able to consider that their loved one greives with them. Their loved misses them too. The age of Enlightenment has left our knowldege  of our afterlives bereft of our ancient wisdoms of death.  We have lost our death stories.                 

In almost every ancient culture I have studied (and my professional experience) on the subject, the dead do not “leave”. Their souls stay earth bound. This is widely known in Asia and among Shamans. It is THE reason that bodies were mummified and offerings were left at graves and tombs. It showed the ghosts of those who had died that the living still cared for and valued them. Remebrances for the dead can even be found in the Old Testament in the book of Macabees (a book that was edited out of the King James bible) Mel Gibson is even working on a movie about the Macabees.                     

What is it that we in modern western society have forgotten? That ghosts are people with out physical bodies. That they still love those who are alive and wish to help and aid their loved ones. They really don’t “go” anywhere most of the time. However just as when they were incarnate, they need to know know they are loved and appreciated. Just as any incarnate  person, if they are not needed or wanted  they will go to “sleep” and lose touch with the world. 

We can help those we love who have died by remebering them often.There are amany wyas we can do this. Keeping a plant in memory of them either in a pot or in our yards helps them  to stay anchored to the physical realm. Offering a toast to them on their birthday or some other special day.  Lighting candles at church or having masses said for them as the Catholics do. Making an altar for them as many  Buddists and Asians do. Telling their descandants true postive things about them. Even just talking to them telling them how we feel asking them for their aid will help them to be with us more stongly. We all want to be needed and know that we are loved, the same applies to ghosts.                          

The saddest thing is when we forget about them . The only thing worse is when we try to make them  “cross over” because what we are telling them in essence is that we do not want them to be a part of our lives. The majority of ancient cosmologies (Asia,parts of  Northern Europe,the Americas, Africa) believed that the dead usually did not leave us  to go another place. Instead they stay and help us. Peter Akroyd Dan Akroyd’s father has a wonderful book on this subject. The Akroyd’s have been spiritualists since the 1800′s and Ghost Busters was inspired by Dan Akroyd’s childhood experiences living with ghosts.

Many times in my professional mediumship  practice I have talked with people who have lost a true love. Yet their love was standing right next to them. I helped them to understand the nature of physical death more clearly and realize that their love didn’t leave them at all. This in essence ‘links” them once again to their lost love and they can again feel that love that has been missing from their lives.

I had am imaginary friend when I was young that took me away from my day to day life experiences and helped me turn them into a peaceful heavenly realm. I used to get excited about my experiences as a child and the first time I got a bit weirded out is when my mum took me to the beach one day and my imaginary friend made me run around saying,  “look Aura, look up here.” The sun was glaring in my eyes and then a big friendly  golden Buddha kept smiling at me “I’m over here.”

The golden figure kept moving and saying I’m over here until I visited every tent on the beach. I met all the children in the area and we all ran to the Buddha. Mind you I didn’t quite know what a Buddha was back then, I just saw a big golden figure with a big happy face…all my friends could see it as well accept for our dear parents.

Well when I grew older and learned about the golden Buddhas I was stunned  and astounded by it’s spiritual meaning. I then realized I was touched by a beautiful unique experience & explored my way into deeper spiritual depth and it continued to grow within me over the years. I am very connected with my guides and I meditate on issues that concern me & others I read for. They never fail to give me or the ones I choose to help the answers needed. I am glad to have to have unique connection.

We are what we think.  The simplicity of the idea masks its depth.  We don’t see our thoughts, yet they can both weigh us down and lift us up.  We spend a lot of time thinking about what others think about us.  How much of your identity is based on what you perceive others believe about you?

Your thoughts create your identity.  Are you your job?  Do you see yourself solely as a wife and mother?  Are you the obedient daughter?  Maybe you are the friend everyone can count on.  Each is a positive thought in moderation.  It’s when all of the thoughts clutter the authentic self that people get physically, spiritually, and emotionally overwhelmed.

Take 15 minutes to be you.  If you live in a house like mine, it’s a lot to ask.  It means putting you first for a tiny fraction out of a 24 hour day.  Sit quietly and release the stressors in your life.  If doing nothing is difficult for you; consider it thought house keeping.  You are dusting off the thoughts cluttering your mind and releasing them to an emotional dumpster out in the universe. 

When there is more you, your world is a better place.  Being you is good enough.  Let yourself shine for the incredible person God intended you to be, not for what others would like you to be.

Is it March already? I must say that I was thrilled to learn on Groundhogs Day that Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow this year. I love the tradition of Groundhogs Day. Whether it holds any water, spring feels just around the corner.

Soon the temperature will be warm and the snow will thaw. I will be doing some spring cleaning which will include all of the regular stuff like clearing out old clothes and toys to donate to the Goodwill. I will be reviewing what needs replacement and cleaning walls and floors.

This is a great time to take it a step further and clean out your home spiritually of any negative energy. The process can be likened to a day at the spa for a person. If someone in your home has been sick you would probably do some extra cleansing of counter tops and bathroom areas. If someone in your home has been depressed due to a job loss or general blahs from the cold winter then you really want to spiritually cleanse your home. Clean your home thoroughly washing floors, windows and walls and get rid of as much clutter as possible. Your ready to spiritually cleanse now.

Here is what you need:
4 Cups of warm distilled water
1 Cup of Sea Salt
1  White Sage Smudge Stick
1 New spray bottle
1 medium glass

Prepare:
Take your water and pour into a large bowl, mix in the sea salt until it is evaporated. Pour mixture into your spray bottle. Take your glass and fill the bottom with sea salt to 2 inches. Place the smudge stick upright into the glass and ground it into the salt so that it is stationary.

Process:
Take your spritz bottle and spray it around your windows and along the base boards of your floors. Also spray your ceiling corners. While your are spraying you can say a nice chant like, “God, (or Universe) please encircle this space in the white light of your love and grant us protection, peace and balance”. Take deep breaths and relax yourself during the process. Open all closet doors and be sure to spray around those areas too.

Once finished with the spray, take your sage glass and carefully light the tip of the smudge stick. If you are comfortable just holding the stick in your hand you may get a better effect, but please be careful not to burn yourself and always do this process when children are not present! Take your glass and waive it very gently around the same path that you took in your spraying process. Let the light smoke fill the space and enjoy the soft and soothing aroma. When you finish, take the sage and butt it out into the salt.

Finally, open all doors and windows for at least 30 minutes, but one hour would be best. When the process is done, take a nice quiet bath or shower and pamper yourself. Enjoy your cleansing and make it a great day for you and your spirit as well.

I love this process and I hope that you will too. Making it a tradition is a great way to welcome spring and say goodbye to any negativity!

In researching past my personal believes of how a Medicine Wheel  is represented, I found to my amazement that the construction and what the four (or six) directions and sections varied from different tribes. Some thoughts are common, such as the principle that life is a circle and that the four directions stand for North, South, East and West with Mother Earth being down and Father Sky being above; giving six directions. Some include one more – Spirit seen as either us as a human or as the All that Spirit is; giving then seven. A circle is also used in other practices considered pagan with the same four directions,  general color schemes, and even most of the same animal totems.

The Medicine Wheel is representative of American Indian Spirituality. The Medicine Wheel symbolizes the individual journey we each must take to find our own path. Within the Medicine Wheel are The Four Cardinal Directions and the Four Sacred Colors. The Circle represents the Circle of Life and the Center of the Circle, the Eternal Fire.
A Medicine Wheel is a physical manifestation of Spiritual energy. An outward expression of an internal dialogue. A mirror in which we can better SEE what is going on within us. It is a wheel of protection and enables us, and allows us, to gather surrounding energies into a focal point and to commune with Spirit, Self and Nature (ALL elemental forces)……..Creation!

Fall seems to be a popular time for all spirits earthbound or otherwise to make contact with us. It was 10 years ago in October when I was asked to do my first house cleansing and rid a home of earthbound spirits. During the cleansing and crossing over it became clear to me that one of the spirits that was there to cross over was an Indian who was my brother in law in another life time. He had been there for all those years waiting for his tribe to come back after a war. He was accompanied with a little girl who was waiting for her family to return. There was also a previous home owner in the attic who was more of a controlling entity and did not want to move on. He simply wanted the home owners to leave. He was annoyed that they said they were going to move and didn’t. He headed into the light but I’m not sure if he went all of the way through it. He may have come back but he did leave the home owners alone after that. Maybe the light changed something with in him.

A few years later I moved into my new home. I was drawn to this home. I drove by it 3x a day for 6 months before purchasing it. A few months after we moved in we started having things move, turn on and off by themselves and I began seeing many spirits. I saw children, adults, and old wise man, spirits from the 20′s, a woman who was murdered that was naked and bloody, a woman who was strangled in the 80′s, and even gangsters. There were spirits being drawn to me from all eras and walks of life. There must have been about 50 or more that came to me the first fall that I was in my new home.�

After seeing the spirit of a small boy I did some historical research and found out that the land behind us had belonged to Al Capone. I began searching Capone web sites. Suddenly, there he was the face of the small boy that had come to me and also the face of another man that I had seen in my home. I believe the small boy was Sonny Capone, Al’s son. The other man was a gang member of Capone’s.

It was all very unsettling at the time. I remember being over whelmed by what I was seeing. It was very hard to sleep at night with them coming up and looking at me and showing me images and visions of their lives and deaths. I began to draw pictures of everyone of them that I had seen and began researching what I had saw. I was able to find information on almost all of them.

A few months later, a friend of mines son committed suicide. I began to see him regularly. He had total darkness in his eyes. When you take your own life you have to start all over to reclaim the light of your soul. He communicated to me that his job now was to bring people to the light. He leads souls to me to cross over and is earning his light back and he is moving up in his levels by doing this.

After the fear subsided I crossed over hundreds of spirits that month. More kept coming. It took a bit for me to realize it but they were not stuck on my property but simply drawn and led to my light. The woods behind us had been used for years for negative rituals and apparently my land was a sacred ritual place to the Native Americans. My positive energy here had re-awakened the positivity for the Native Americans. The spirits I saw had come to me because I could see them and I could help. Although the images where quite unsettling I started to realize that they were not trying to scare me. They needed my help because they were lost.

Since then, I’ve been crossing over spirits once a month. I’ve been doing this for about 8 years. My positive presence here has strengthened the spiritual pull. Now I can feel once a month when there are too many here. I show them how to get to the light and can immediately feel the difference in the energy when they move on. �

I’ve accepted that this will always be part of my service to the light. I’m now comfortable with it and proud to help our creator in this way. My point is that even after death it is not too late to accept the light of God and go to him for healing, peace, love and mercy. It is just better and easier to do it NOW. You know how hard it is to ask for help when you’re alive. Can you imagine what it is like trying to get help or communicate when you have already passed and you’re invisible? It has to be difficult even to get psychics and mediums to help. There are many different reasons why people stay behind. Some don’t know they’ve even passed, some are waiting for justice, some are waiting for family or closure, some come back to the last place and/or age that they felt happiness, and some simply just don’t want to leave. Whatever the reason may be. There is nothing stronger than God’s light and love to guide, protect and heal. It is best to connect with your souls light and creator while you’re here on earth. So that you know how to get home when you pass on. It is also best to pass over with no unsettled issues to keep you hear. Practice forgiveness in the hear and now.

I’ve also been visited by many spirits who have crossed over and gone right into the light. They come back healed, happy and peaceful with messages of love, hope and peace.

Even in death we all have jobs to do. Have compassion for the lost and pray for them. They are mostly just misunderstood.

When I was a young girl I was always getting into trouble for telling “stories” about things I saw & heard.  When I got older I realized that it was not my creative imagination.  Years of self teaching, many educational books, classes and instruction. Gathering my life tools to help me with these life lessons, gifts and talents during which I was guided. I fine tuned my abilities to assist on a greater scale.

This is a form of channeling in which I go into a trance state. In the trance, I move myself aside along with my ego and I allow the spirits of the light only, to come through to answers the questions of those in my presence or to give spiritual messages, knowledge and wisdom.

I am in control yet in a altered state of being. My voice may change partially or completely. I may have more than one spirit of the light come through. I don’t always have clear recall of all the messages conveyed while in this altered state. It is always a good to record in some manner the messages given.

How my voice channel came about

While working in a spa, a hypnotherapist rented one of the rooms in the spa as her office. In getting to know her and to introduce and refer her to my clients we did a trade of services. I gave her a set of beautiful pink and white acrylic fingernails and she gave me a hypnosis session to assist me in my studies as I was in the mist of getting my real state license. 

The session was very peaceful and helpful in allowing me to focus on my real estate studies.  In doing the maintenance of her acrylic nails I got to have another hypnosis session. This was more than meditating with guided imagery. I got to choose the things in my life that I wanted to let go of and what I wanted to replace them with.  Of course there were many things I wanted to work on to better myself and get clear with.
The third hypnosis session I was in was the beginning of the events that led me to further examine, study and get to throughly know and understand mediumship and being a channel and voice channel for the spirits crossed with the light and the earth bound, the ghost.

Have you ever had a past life regression session?

This was a transpersonal hypnosis session I was not prepared for. You know how one event  or happening, can literally change your life … for the best if you allow it. Be positive with it.  Like let go and let god.

Did you guess what happened yet? Well we know things happen for a reason.  And you have also heard the saying. “being in the right place at the right time  and timing is everything.”

My one hour session turned into a four hour session as the desist father of the hypnotherapist came through me while I was open to it yet didn’t know it. I was imitating a man smoking a cigar and my voice was a mans voice as he was talking to the hypnotherapist about her mother that had gone on to the light and he was going to stay around and continue to be with her and her sister, his other daughter… well he wasn’t the only one that had something to say. He was the first of five people that voiced channelled through me that were earth bound, yes ghost.

Since then I have had had much growth in this realm from more hands on experiences. I have leaned, studied and educated myself. I no longer allow earth bound spirits to voice channel through me. I only allow those that have crossed with the light.

At that time I wasn’t sure what was what. I do give thanks to all that transpired even though at the time it was very trying and quite a journey of learning from the inside out. The more I worked on the evolving of my soul my vibrations changed and continue to as  lighter beings of the light are of Divine Powers that voice channel through me. Everyone’s journey is unique. You receive profound insight and knowledge often from Divine Powers; I am a voice channel for that level of healing.
