This week, we’re featuring several interviews as part of our Sitting Down with a Psychic series, in anticipation for Halloween! To start it off, we sat down with Psychic Amy. Hope you enjoy the extra treats!

Did you always feel as though you had special abilities or did it sneak up on you?

I have been gifted since I was a child.  My first sighting of spirit happened at age 7 when my grandmother who had just passed away appeared to me.  My deceased grandmother wanted to let my mother know that she was okay. 

I suppressed my gifts after being chided in middle school for being “different” and “seeing spirit.”  After my near death experience, my gifts reemerged stronger and in full force.

When you connect with someone, what sensations do you get?

I basically use all my five senses plus the unseen ones.  The ones termed extrasensory perception. 

What do you tell your clients who are disappointed with a particular piece of information?

I tell the client diplomatically and with empathy.  I try to tell the client that it is better to know now rather than later.  If they are asking me a question in the first place, they themselves have some clue using their own intuition that something is not quite right. 

Is Halloween a special holiday for you, due to the veil between this world and the spirit world being at its thinnest?

Halloween is like any other holiday in my opinion.  Yes the veil between this world and the spirit realm is thin.  I have had more spirits appear to me during this time than any other.

During the month of October, do you feel more connected with Spirit?

I feel connected to Spirit most of the time.  I do not need a particular month to help that special connection.

This week, we sat down and chatted with Psychic Nancy, throwing in some Halloween themed questions to get in the spirit!

Do you remember your first Psychic encounter? What happened?

I do remember my first psychic encounter. We were living in California and I had just called my son down from upstairs. On his way down, I stood at the landing and told him that we were going to have an earthquake and it was going to be a big one. This was the quake of 1981, 7.1 on the scale. I just knew it before it happened. He did not even get all the way down the stairs when it started.
Actually, that was not my first……but a very memorable one in my mind.

Are your family and friends supportive of your Psychic abilities? If so, do you give readings to them?

My family & friends are VERY supportive of my abilities, and Yes I do readings for many of them. They are amazed at so many things I have told them.

Who’s the most influential teacher you’ve had?

My most influential teacher was an 8th grade teacher who taught me the love of travel and experiencing different cultures. He opened my mind to the world out there.

What do you think one misconception about Psychics is and how do you address it?

One very misconception about psychics is that we are mind readers. We can’t always read ones mind……we do need some direction in order to do a correct reading. Another misconception is that we are fortune tellers. One way I address it is to tell them that I need more information on their actual issue in order to address it correctly. As for fortune tellers, If I knew what lottery numbers were coming out……would I be there talking with them. I usually get a laugh out of that.

In the spirit of Halloween, do you go all out during the spooky month?

We do go all out on Halloween. My 30 year old son decorates our home and it is usually the hit of the neighborhood. Some of it is quite spooky, but all in fun.

Do you feel more connectivity to spirits during this time of year?

I can’t say that I feel more connected to spirits at this time than others. But, if I am in a place where many spirits are……I can feel them. One Halloween we were in Gettysburg, PA and I had so many spirit contacts there. Some of the people had so many feelings they needed to get out about dying on a Battlefield before it was their time to pass on. It was quite over whelming.

At what age did you realize you had Psychic abilities & what were they?

I never knew I was psychic till I went to the Edgar Cayce foundation and it felt like I had come home. I took some intuition development classes, I teach them now, and found out  that I was very psychic. I found out that I connect through your energy field of my client’s , the information comes through my hand , as if my hand was telling me a story, I learned to refine  it later by inviting guides and angels to talk to me , answer my questions.

Do you have a particularly interesting/amazing story where you helped a customer/friend/family member using your psychic abilities? 

I am also a massage therapy instructor, and remember helping a client while giving her a massage. She told me that she had been disturbed every night for 5 years by some spirit, this spirit was scaring her cat, turning on lights, opening and closing doors. She had not had a good night’s sleep for 5 years. She had had someone over for exorcism, medicine men tried to help and more and still the spirit remained. I was not ready for this, I had figured this was just going to be a massage, so I asked for help, guidance.
I felt directed in asking questions, while giving the massage, she explained that 5 years earlier a friend, room mate invited spirit in and she was having great results, so my client did the same, the only problem was she was not ready for it.

At some point in our conversations I was inspired to recommend that she ask this spirit to leave in the same way she had invited it in. I spoke with my client a few weeks later and she told me she did what I suggested and her spirit never came back. It was a great feeling to be able to help my client regain her peaceful life.
Is there a way for someone to ‘sharpen’ there psychic abilities?

If someone wanted to sharpen their psychic abilities, I would certainly recommend the training at the A.R. E, the Edgar Cayce foundation in Virginia Beach, their program was created by Cayce to help people realize how connected we really are to each other and how by connecting through intuition, he calls intuition The voice of our soul, we can truly get to know one another . The training is gentle and goes in depth. After 3 weeks of training, spread over a year, I could do a reading on someone from a name on a piece of paper.

What would you tell someone who was skeptical of Psychics?

To help someone who is doubtful about psychics, I would explain how we are all made of energy and everything about us is in our energy field, everything from our past , present and future are present as a vibration. By quieting my mind, I can feel the vibration and listen to what it says. When it comes to the future, the vibration expresses what you are creating through your thoughts and feeling. Edgar Cayce said that everything in a reading is in the realm of possibilities. You can always change the future by changing your thoughts and feelings. This is why getting a reading can be so helpful. By looking at what is coming in your future, you can decide what you want and what you don’t want and change the outcome. It takes practice, focus and meditation to do this with ease!

It was October of 1965 and I was 5 years old. My Grandmother was our baby sitter every weekend. My father had a band so my parents were always out until 3 or 4 am. Once it got dark my grandmother and I would sit on sofa with all the lights out. She told me that there was nothing to fear of the dark. It was calm and cool in the room as we sat there, relaxed and comfortable. When we were ready, Grandmother would call the “spirits” and offer any help that might be needed.

The room would get very chilly as the atmosphere changed. You could feel a presence come into the room. This night was different however. We were visited by a spirit that was not at rest, which was not the usual. I sat very still, listening to this spirit communicate with my Grandmother. His name was Harold and he felt he was hopelessly lost. His image would appear as a wispy sort of cloud formation that sometimes took a very distinct male shape, he was tall and slender. He appeared to be an older gentleman and we could smell tobacco smoke in the air. He told us he had been killed and that no one had claimed his body. That he had been buried in a pauper’s grave with no head stone to identify him. This bothered him greatly.

I wasn’t afraid as my grandmother sat calmly listening. She told him that he had not been forgotten as he in spirit will always exist and that we were his friends and we loved him. She told him to find the soothing white light and to go there because there is where he will be with those who love him. But Harold did not want to go into the light; he didn’t want to leave his body here. He said there was something he needed from me. My Grandmother told me to put out my hand as I had done many times before into the dark. I felt his hand in mine and in that instant I knew everything he knew, all he had ever done or felt during his entire lifetime as a mortal on earth. I had put my hand out many times before for other spirits and felt there soothing energy but this one was different. At the time I was so young. I felt that my spirit took his information and kept it. I did not think of it again until October of 2006 over forty years later.

My grandmother put her arms around me that night as we put ourselves in the protection of the light, as always when ending communication with other spirits. It enveloped me as though I was being cradled by a fluffy white cloud, safe and comfy. I fell asleep that night feeling like a typical 5 year old, after our spiritual contact was done for the night. In

October of 2006, I was on my tread mill; it was early evening, so the room was dimly lit. I suddenly knew that there was someone else in the room with me. I turned to look to my side; my Grandmother was standing beside me. She had passed on several years before and had visited me on other occasions but never did she appear so “real” as she did this time. She looked exactly as she did when I was younger, she was right there beside me. I could smell her perfume in the room. I jumped off the tread mill so fast that I fell.

As I looked up at her from the floor, she very calmly told me, that Harold was coming…. I would be ill, she said, but not to be afraid because she would be with me to protect me. 2 days later in the mail I received a letter from an old friend from back when I was 13 years old. He was in prison for killing a man his letter read, so he has a life sentence. He wanted me to write to him as he was lonely and claimed he had not been the one to kill the man.

That night as I was relaxing on the couch, almost asleep, I heard a man’s voice directly by my ear shout “Lisa!” It scared me to death. There was no one in the room but me and yet, the voice had come from directly beside me. I sat up and looked around the room. It became cooler instantly and there was, Harold, in my living room looking exactly as he did when I saw his spirit 40 years ago. He said he was the man that my old friend had killed. He wanted me to help him. Everything I had felt before when I was 5 years old and had taken Harold’s hand in mine returned, but this time, I could also feel it. I saw and felt everything that Harold had. I saw what he saw as he lay dying looking into the eyes of my old friend who had beaten him so severely. My head hurt terribly my throat felt like it was closed and I couldn’t breathe. The pain was so severe at first but then it faded with the image of the eyes of his killer being the last thing he saw before leaving his body.

I knew exactly what had happened to him, exactly how he felt, first the fear, then the pain and then the wonder… the feeling of not belonging, a loneliness so powerful that it hurt. Harold had been killed viciously by a boy that had just turned to a man of 18; my old friend from the past that I had not seen or heard from since we were 13. Harold’s body had been buried in an unmarked grave, as no family had claimed his poor damaged body. There was no marker to gaze at with his name upon it on his grave. He told me that he would forgive his killer if he would only put a marker upon his final resting place and that he wanted me to tell him this.

I wrote to my “x” old friend and told him that I knew what he had done and that the man whose life he had taken so viscously in the past was willing to forgive him if only he would have his grave marked with his name. He wrote back quickly, astonished that I knew exactly what he had done that night to Harold as there was no one else there but the 2 of them at the time and he had religiously, with the hope of possibly gaining his freedom from prison, upheld his claim of innocence. In the letter he admitted his guilt, he wrote that he was haunted every night with the visions of what he had done and he had prayed for relief. Harold was willing to forgive for so little and yet…. his killer did not do as he had been asked.

Two weeks past again while relaxing on the couch I was visited by the demons that would follow Harold’s killer eternally. They appeared as small gargoyle like creatures, ugly and cold. Their presence was so frightening that I went into seizures that night and was taken to the hospital. The next morning in the hospital room my Grandmother was there sitting as I woke. “You have done all you can now for Harold, you must rest” she said quietly. I fell back asleep that morning with my Grandmother beside me and left the hospital later that day.

My old, now not a friend, is still in prison, the ugly creatures surrounding him every night. Reminding him always of that night when he so wrongly took a life. He is unwilling to forget it, it is his own guilt that haunts him now and he has yet to mark the grave of his victim. Why this man is not willing to do such a small thing for relief from his haunting madness? I do not know. Harold however now peacefully exists in spirit, head stone or not. He has gone on to the white light where he is greatly loved and appreciated. “Love all that you can with all that you have for it is love that lasts eternally,” says Grandmother. In memory of My Grandmother this story is not to be repeated without my name and hers upon it.

How do you prepare for a Psychic Reading? 

Before I start any reading, I always pray.   I ask that I be given the guidance  and wisdom of the Spirit, I ask for angles to surround each caller and me, to protect us from harm, evil or danger of any kind …body, mind and spirit.  I ask that I will  be a help and not a hindrance.  I pray that I be given the ability to stay focused and answer each call with clarity, compassion, understanding and love.  Reading for anyone is a privilege and responsibility and I take that very seriously.   I take no credit for a reading but turn it over to God, my higher source.  Without Him, I can do nothing!

When you are reading with someone, what’s one thing you ask them to do?

I ask that they focus on what they want to know while I shuffle the cards and just say “stop” when they feel that I’ve shuffled  the cards enough.  This helps me to focus on them and whatever they are experiencing and I feel that it puts their energy into the reading as well.
Do you remember your dreams?  

Sometimes.  But, what is interesting to me is that I very seldom remember what I’ve said during a reading.  That sometimes presents a problem when someone calls me for another reading because they expect me to remember what I’ve told them before.   Although I will remember them, I will not remember what was said.  But, I feel that it’s for the best overall because it protects their privacy even more than usual and ensures a fresh, new reading each and every time they speak with me.  I simply don’t remember what I say during a reading after that particular reading is over.   And, I consider that a gift for them and for me.   I pray for everyone that I read for, so, it’s not important to me to remember what they’ve told me or what I share with them.  I know that all will be well, especially if they follow their higher source and understand that whatever guidance they receive is ultimately their decision to trust, follow or not.  Sometimes I wonder if they forget why they call us in the first place. 

We do our best to guide each caller to the right path, but, ultimately, we all have to make our own choices and live with the consequences.  We can only share what we’re given and then pray for a successful resolution, love, happiness and peace for every caller.

Have you ever encountered a ghost? What happened?

I never encounter ghosts but I do experience “knowings” about some who have gone forward.  Usually, they come in order to let their loved one know that all is well or that they are still with them.  There have been times when they want to let someone know that they forgive them or understand why things happened between them and why some decisions were made.   It is usually a very cathartic event and I feel so privileged to be a part of their encounter.  It is so loving and makes me feel so happy that I could help them.

Do you ever predict things for yourself?
Yep!  Do I always follow what I see?   What do you think?

My psychic abilities have always flowed naturally through art. As a child I entertained myself for hours playing with Angels and Spirits. They encouraged me to draw them and what I saw on the other side. They’d  sing, dance and play outside with me also. I started to see that I’d look back later at a drawing and notice I drew something that was happening in the present. I realized that I was drawing future events, receiving guidance and predictions. I would see many angelic events when I looked up into the sky. I wish the rest of the world would look up more. You can see so much action. Angels, scuffling, battling, working, moving, loving, guiding & waging war. There is never a dull moment in the sky not day or night. I’m depicting all of those scenes in my art now.

Growing up in the sixties was a powerful time for me as a very young girl.   I come from a family with four children being the 3rd child born.  I can remember when I was brought into this world.  I know that may be hard to believe, but it is true.  I remember the sounds and the light coming to me as I moved through my mother’s womb. I remember coming home, my first day, leaving the hospital.
I felt I did not fit in with my brother and sister’s so I found a special place to be away from my family. I was 4 yrs old at the time. This special place was under a Mimosa tree where no one could see me.  It was as if I was sitting under an umbrella, away from the world and what I could not understand.  That is when I started to leave my body, in the awakened state, and I saw the future for others and myself. Later on in life, everything I saw, took place.  Some was not good, but as a child that had not been conditioned yet by society, and fear was not a part of my consciousness, there was no good/bad or wrong/right.  You could describe it as looking through ‘rose colored glasses’.

My parents did not find out about this special hide-away till months later when they realized I was missing one day…my mother was beside herself and told me never to do that again…of course, in my mind I felt nothing wrong with it, so I continued despite the scolding.

School was a challenge.  I thought every child had the same experience as I did.  That thought was soon taken away in an incident where a teacher was asking me a question and I was not there.  I had left my body, seeing and meeting with beings that have been with me all my life. (I am going to attach a picture of my guide/protector that assists me with my readings).  The teacher asked the student sitting next to me to nudge me…I came back from where I had been, and burst into tears.  From that day on, I was looked at as a problem child.  The school suggested to my mother to put me in special Ed class for they thought I had “Autism”. That only lasted a few weeks, as I exceled in my school work at a very fast pace.

Fear took over my life and the bully’s came forward.  I had no friends all through my elementary school years…that soon changed, once I went into high school.

In my teens I started doing readings for my friends in high school.  We were a rebellious group of girls.  I knew when to ditch or do things that parents would not approve of, and we never got caught.  My parents did not like my friend’s so they moved me and my family to Santa Fe, New Mexico and that was a wonderful experience.  I connected with spirit there and my gifts accelerated at a high speed.  This was the time when I fully connected with my psychic gifts.  My mother feared it, my father observed.  I know my father was the same as I. I do need to mention one thing. I remember when I was 7 yrs old, my father telling me to never fear what I felt or saw.  He predicted and spoke to me of things that were to come.  Such as the water dispensers that we put a quarter in to buy water, and the cell phones and computers where you can talk and see the person you’re talking with….and much more.  He also explained to me that our thoughts and actions were the tool to our success and making our dreams come true. He taught me how to communicate with others and myself. He always said, “Watch your words, think before you speak.” My mother thought he was nuts!

Well, I do not want to make this too long, but I do have much more to share.  When I am giving a reading, do realize that it is very important to feel centered and grounded as much as possible.  Do not be anxious or worried, and be open to what you are supposed to hear.  Some of it, you may not resonate with, but as time goes on, it will surface, and there will be that ‘aha’ moment.   Our lives and our world is ever changing and shifting.  It is a matrix, and we are all connected.  Create your bliss by doing positive affirmations and have full faith that you can move through all the challenges and obstacles in your life.
