It seems that the very beginning of the shows, where the funny stuff happens, has become one of the better parts. Once in a while some really good dance or song will come out of the evening and I just thank goodness for DVR’s- or all I would watch would be the cable stations where the entertainment and the actors are top of the line (have you seen the Tudors?)

Well I guess I am expecting a lot out of realty TV – I am also a big Survivor fan and have been really enjoying this season of Hero’s verses Villains – it is one tribe now and another season shot in Samoa which is so beautiful. Then, I cannot help it, I watch Celebrity Apprentice where I always fall asleep but finish watching sooner or later. It is a brutal (you’re fired) show where lots of money is raised for good causes near and dear to the celebrity’s hearts… I think Sharon Osborn or Brett Michaels should win; I hated to see Cyndi Lauper go she is such an icon and really brought true colors to life.

Back to DWTS – another football person (Chad) is dancing and he is going home next week I hope… cute does not cut dancing skills and he is tall but not that tall – 6’2” is a nice stature for a man, but he lacks danceability, my new word (actually it is two words that I combined to make one word), the pussycat doll is a shoe in, no pun intended, but the girl can dance. The ice skater is good but not as good as the pussycat doll. The field is narrowed down and watching bad dancing is no fun and some of the dancing stars made comments that the pussycat doll is a professional dancer and it is not fair… hey have you ever tried ballroom dancing? Years of doing trendy pop-culture dancing is not a ballroom foundation. So my money is on the pussycat doll…but more than likely somehow another sport guy will win!!! Just makes me wonder who is voting for him? Do guys sit around and watch DWTS in-between games on TV?

American Idol…when I first saw this season’s top 20 I picked Crystal – she is just good. Lee is okay – the other two, I fast forwarded because I would fall asleep otherwise.

Survivor is another story and I don’t think Russell will win but I have no idea who will. It is a rough 39 days – the fun part is how Russell finds the immunity idols with or without clues and the last time he was worried he would be voted off so he played it and not one person voted him off… what a waste of an idol.

As this reality season of shows comes to an end the next ones take their place in the wings – So You Think You Can Dance – and one of my favorites – Americas Got Talent, with new judge Howie Mandel – who is to AGT what Ellen is to American Idol.

1.)  If you met on the Internet and he lives local do not explore the relationship any more than two weeks. If you have not had a date or met for coffee or a drink… it is not going any place.

2.)  If a man is ready to start to date he will not have to clear his calendar to fit you in. Take the hint and back off.

3.)  If you are with a man in another state and he wants you to move to him… like the song goes “if ya like it than ya better put a ring on it!” No moving without an engagement ring.

4.)  The phone rings and it’s the guy you just met but it is after 11PM – unless he needs to get bailed out – it is a booty call…

5.)  Men do not feel; they think – so if you have to ask a question, always ask what do you “think” not how do you “feel” this way you will get more out of a probing conversation.

6.) This is a big number for daters; if you are dating for 6 months and he has not said he loves you, he never will.

7.)  Never co-sign for a car for your man or let him drive your car. It is not fun getting into your car on Monday mornng for work and it smells like perfume- and it is not yours.

8.)  If you don’t hear from him within 3 days after a date, either his fingers fell off or he is no longer interested.

9.)  If you have not heard from him within 3 days after a date call him cause his fingers probably fell off.

10.)  Spring is in the air and men, like bees, like to hop from flower to flower…if you are part of a bouquet you might want to consider another watering can!

11.)  Closure is over-rated – if there has not been any contact for weeks, months or years chances are the relationship is closed.

One of the best reasons for “spring cleaning” is that in the wintertime things slept, get covered up, weighed down and mellowed out and dusty; now is the time to wake up the house, car and work environment so that you can think better, feel lighter, be more creative, work more efficiently, have better sex and most of all feel happy. Winter always turns to spring…and we also emerge from the still-ness.

Before you start to clean, get the camera out and take a picture of the state of the environments that you are going to give an overhaul to. This is a fun thing and will show you how brilliant you are in getting your life in order. And it is just good for soul to see a before and after picture of your hard work.

Meditation in motion or Zen in the art of cleaning

What is usually a tiring and sometimes painful experience cleaning can also be an enlightening exercise both for the body, mind and spirit. It is important to have proper tools to clean with and the term deep cleaning is one associated with spring cleaning.

If you are so inclined to move furniture around, they have coasters you can put under the legs of your furniture for easy movement. New and wonderful products like the Swiffer Mop and duster really make cleaning easy.

Bending properly will help you to stretch out the legs and back, it is important to stretch your body before you tackle your cleaning work.

With cleaning products coming in environmental safe forms, you can put the gas mask away and breathe to the rhythm of your favorite music. 

A good place to start is going through the draws and getting rid of the unwanted junk that seems to gather in the junk draws wipe out the draws and but in some new liners in the cabinets. 

For storage and organized neatness, baskets that fit under the bed, clear hanging pouches for shoes – shelving for clothes that fit in the closet all add a sense of placement which gives you the knowledge of where things are without having to dig and search.

My motto is if it does not bring you joy, if it is not beautiful or if it is not useful, you do not need it.
Organizing and cleaning makes you feel wonderful – it is a good time to make your “to do” cleaning list and be prepared for new found space in your peaceful home.

Much to my chagrin the competition is very weak this year… I had to fast forward through quite a few of the performances as it seemed like it was armature night at the Apollo and not the hottest show on TV (where millions of people watch to see who the next singing sensation and recording artist will be). I only remember a few of the singers and not because they were great but because they were terrible. How sad is this – is it fixed? Do they tell these young singers to hold back until the show really gets going and by that I mean down to the twelve that really got the pipes to bring it home.

With Ellen DeGeneres sitting on the panel of judges the kindness is there but the truth is even she had to dig to find good things to say like, “you look so cute, America will love you!” One has to remember this is not a beauty contest – this is a singing competition. With all the singers they went through during auditions, I wonder if they made the right choices. The panel during auditions kept saying this is the best group ever, come on have you heard Adam Lambert and the guy who won last session?

I am just happy that I have a DVR and can record the shows and bypass all the personal stories and bad performances. I also wonder why some of the kids look like a deer caught in the headlights! Some of the makeovers were like make-unders especially, for the guys. And I don’t know about you but the blond guy with the guitar is just not that hot as Kara DioGuardi fans herself and appears to be losing control while he sings…

Randy Jackson has not yet went into “dawg” mode but it is coming, some things never change – Simon Cowell is going to be missed next season as he is honest and brutal enough to say what he really thinks, giving true critic to the up and coming singers.

I wonder if his new show “The X Factor” will cause “American Idol” to fizzle out.  They better get someone really interesting to be a judge on “American Idol” or it will be in trouble –
This year they say the girls have the power to make it to the top – this is one thing I am in agreement with. My favorite is the hippy dreaded haired chick with the guitar and harmonica. She can blow… and in a good way… not like the rest of the show!

I love the movies; I love being swept away by the amazing beauty, stellar acting, fantastic music and heart pounding story lines. It is fun for me to be able to cast my unofficial psychic vote for the winners of this year’s golden statue named “OSCAR”.

Whither your name is Tiger or you are born in the year of the Tiger it sure is going to be one sexy, fierce and fast paced year. Ox ~ if the sturdy Ox fell short last year in accomplishing goals the Ox will have an easier way to go in the year of the Tiger, being able to get done what needs to be done.  For the Ox, the Tiger energy is be about motion and will make a way to break out of old patterns.

Tiger ~ well finally it is your turn to be empowered. Last year you took the bull by the horns and fared well. This year you are in your element and you need to embrace it. Setting your sights high will serve you well. This is your year for fun and getting your way – being upfront or pushy will serve you well in getting your share of life’s joys.

Rabbit/Cat ~ if you hop around or purr (which ever animal you relate to better), it is sure to be a year of excitement and beauty. I developed my love of shoes as a child, having to wear saddle shoes, white bucks and on special occasions, the only shoes with style in my closet: the Mary Jane. These shoes brought out my desire for style and fashion in shoes. As I began my teen years, I finally was able to buy the faux snake skin knee high black boots I lusted after for a good few months. Then the loafers and the little pump – I liked to dance so I had ballet slippers in pink, white and black.  I really enjoyed the white sneaker Keds too. My love for shoes became an obsession of the coolest kind. I love shoes so much that I actually bought a pair of knee high lace-up boots with four inch heels to wear while lying down!

But enough about my shoe fetish! Let’s look back at some famous shoes –

One of my favorite pair of shoes is the red ruby slippers in the Wizard of Oz.  They are by far the most famous shoes; magical in nature, just by clicking your heels you can be transported home.

Then we have the glass slipper in the timeless story of Cinderella.  What girl didn’t dream of her prince coming to save her, slipping the slipper made of glass on and becoming a princess swept away by Mr. Charming himself?

Shoes have a mystical energy; they can make your day a joy; giving pep to your step and sex appeal to your being. Shoes offer a persona to our outer look that allows us to feel a sense of joy inside. For those of you who have watched Sex and the City, Carrie Bradshaw gave us the connection of heart to feet and perhaps started a whole trend of higher metaphysics in fashion. I once heard it said you can tell a lot about a person by their shoes, I believe this to be true. Manolo Blahnik opened in 1973 saying “shoes help transform a woman.”

The “Red Shoe Diaries” was a series from 1992-1997 that was all about love. It was steamy and seductive – woman answered an ad under “Red Shoe Diaries” asking for stories about love, passion and betrayal. The stories helped a man come to terms with his fiancée killing herself.

Carlos Santana is one of my favorite musicians – he is hot and sexy and has an incredible line of shoes… like his music his shoes will make you get up and dance.

So, to all you pretty women:  get that red dress on with your red leather ‘come get me’ high heels that make a statement that you are ready for a night of love – and when your man notices your shoes, know he really loves you.

Loyalty
Feeling safe comes with “loyalty” a must for a relationship to last “loyalty” comes in wide or narrow boundaries depending on the depth of the unconditional amount of the love you share.
Knowing that there is no lying or cheating is the greatest gift you can give your lover. Keeping a person safe in the fact that you love only them, without any games or sneaky activities will bring long and deep “loyalty” to your relationship.

Mercury, the planet of communication, dead batteries and introspective thinking will be bringing in New Years Eve with a bang! 

Mercury retrograde is about what you think and with New Year resolutions being plotted out every day as the year comes to an end it is best to focus on what you really, really want for the New Year. This energy can be a constant mind-changer; men and women alike will be pondering what they want for the New Year, unable to settle in on one thing or one mindset. Details will not fall to the wayside however as you think about life in the year 2010, yet it is important to keep track of your plans via writing them down so after the Mercury retrograde you can reassess the details of your plans.

There will be moves for many as the New Year starts out, yet it is best to wait for Mercury to go direct before you start to load the moving van. It is a time of independence and people will be spending less, but getting more as friends and family will chime in to help with moves.

We are also entering into a three cycle, universally, and this gives us the energy of social gatherings, yet with the Mercury retrograde happening while we are bringing in New Year’s Eve, it might be a good time to settle in with your loved ones at home, enjoying the love and festive activities in a safe and comfortable environment. 

Lights that don’t stay on, bad reception on communication devices, cars that don’t start are only a few of the glitches that could be encountered during this time. Enjoy the holidays and the New Year, I don’t know about you but 2009 seemed to fly by. With the Chinese New Year (Tiger) coming up on Valentine’s Day I am going to have some fun things to write about – the New Year will be about bravery, rebellion, social connections and much freer than 2009 was. Fasten your seat belts we are in for a fabulous ride.

 It was the Sunday before Thanksgiving and the year was 1974; my two roommates and I set out to have some fun; a little dancing, a little drinking and the hopes of each of us meeting a man to spend New Year’s Eve with. We went to one of my favorite clubs on the east side of Greenwich Village, three floors down with a comfortable feel and a nice dance floor (which I spent most of my time on while in the club).

When we first walked in I saw a TDH (tall, dark and handsome) man dancing with three women. His energy was so high and I could tell by the way he danced he had training in the martial arts – I was a big Bruce Lee fan and actually never went out with anyone who was not a martial artist. I turned to my girlfriend and said “that’s the man I am going to marry.”

She laughed at me; hey after all he was dancing with three girls!

We found a table close to the dance floor and as I watched him dance I noticed his vest was on inside out (my mom would say when you put something on inside out you get a surprise) and with my pointer finger I summoned him over to my table.  Darn he was good looking and when I whispered into his ear that his vest was inside out he took it off and flipped it around much to my delight!

Being sassy I said, “Oh, getting undressed for me already?” and he asked if he could buy me a drink. My gal pals took off and he sat down with me and I asked him what style of martial arts he studied and he was stunned that I could tell he was indeed a student of Kung Fu.

We spent the whole night and next day together and made plans to see each other the next evening; but I got stood up!  I called and called and finally got him back. I was aggressive, he was lazy – when I got back to him he once again came over to visit me, it was after Thanksgiving with Christmas coming up fast.  The connection was profound and if love at first sight is real, this was as real as it gets. After our second date we hopped into a cab and went to his apartment in the village where we packed him up and moved him in with me.

On Christmas evening, we had a party to go to but the best part was coming home to the place where we both now lived. Standing outside the brownstone looking up at the starry sky we held each other with the mindset of our lives merging and after a sweet, sexy kiss he told me he loved me – I told him he was my Christmas present from the Universe.

Then we went upstairs and started our life together – I married him and we spent almost twenty years together.

One of the most interesting things was that in September of 1974 we both went to get card readings – I was told I was going to meet him and he was told he was going to meet me!
