“This topic seems to come up every so often.  I first started hearing buzz about it in 2007; here’s the thing – it does not really impact Western Astrology. I know it’s kind of confusing – the astronomer {from NBC} is talking about constellations. In Western Astrology when we are referring to a zodiac sign, we are talking about the location relative to the equinox. They’re not talking about the location of the constellations. 

For some people who follow Eastern or Sidereal Astrology, the signs may actually have shifted. By the way; this is old news, hundreds of years old – LOL.

In short for us, the simple answer is our horoscope, and our signs will remain the same. The Washington Post wrote a tasty blog too.”

So, for those lovably balanced Libra’s and pliable Pisces, don’t worry! You won’t need to change a thing.  And the 13th sign, Ophiuchus won’t be featured as part of the Zodiac either.

As someone who intuitively feels the emotions that other people experience, I find myself responding to the news of what is happening in Haiti with a sense of overwhelming compassion and empathy.  Truly, I feel blessed by this gift and I am grateful to be part of the community of Psychic Source, a company that understands and reaches out with me. 

Like many of you, I watch the news and have been deeply moved by the heroic actions of my fellow human beings. The intense love and hope of a husband calling to his wife, who was trapped in the rubble, as he dug with his bare hands to free her… the tears of joy when she was miraculously saved after six days and reunited with him. Sadly, these happy endings are rare. Children are lost, many are now orphans.  Families are torn apart.

Haiti is approximately 650 miles from Miami Florida. Miami the same distance from Atlanta and Atlanta is the same distance from Washington, DC. That’s about a two hour flight. Two hours is a very close neighbor. As Americans, we are very blessed. We are the flush, well heeled neighbors to Haiti and our neighbors need us now.

Rather than sit here and feel helpless in the face of such tragedy I choose, like most of you, to get involved. We respond with the wave of humanity; we watch the news, we lose sleep. We mourn. It is our Human way, our connection with something Divine.

Rumi said, “There is a community of the Spirit, join it and feel the delight of walking in the noisy street.”  How can we join in and help?  Really from where I sit, what can I do? My husband and I discussed this and decided to reach out to our community with a challenge. Give up something that you enjoy, something that you perhaps take for granted and donate the cost of that something to a benefit Haiti. Do more if you can.  

We regularly enjoy a dinner at our favorite Italian restaurant. My husband eats lunch out, and I love café mocha on Friday afternoon. For example, on “Rescue Me”, Tommy is skeptical at his initial visit to the psychic, later he finds out that Mike, who recommended the Psychic to him, had told the Psychic quite a bit of revealing information about Tommy prior to his visit. It is at this point, one would think that she may not be what she states she is, only when Tommy visits her to tell her that he believes she is not authentic, she reveals information that only Tommy would know. Therefore proving she is in touch with the other side.

On “Grey’s Anatomy”, Izzie’s mom called her Psychic to see if Izzie would survive her Melanoma Diagnosis. The Psychic stated that Izzie would live, although, we, the audience, know that the diagnosis is grim. As a fan, I believe the wonderful writers took it upon themselves to give us some hope that Izzie could live, thereby voiding much of what is being written in the tabloids concerning Katherine Heigl, her career decisions and whether or not she is leaving Grey’s Anatomy. Although, if you preview next week, we see that it is possible that Denny is back to walk her through to the other side. I am anxious to see how the writers handle this in upcoming episodes.

When I was just a tad younger, “Beverly Hills 90210″ was all the rage. There is a new version for today’s generation just called “90210″ airing in prime time now. While I haven’t gotten into this version, a friend told me about a recent episode that aired featuring a psychic. Donna (yes, the same Donna from the first version of the show) had returned home. She was looking for space to rent for her new clothing store. She was hesitant about moving back, so she went to see a psychic with Kelly (yes the same Kelly) for advice. Donna is told to expect a sign while Kelly will meet a man with a six pack. Sure enough, later in the episode while out at a club to unwind, Donna finds a “For Lease” sign across the street for her store and Kelly does meet a man with a six pack… a six pack of beer in his hands, but hey that counts, right?

Then there is my favorite TV show, “Medium” I feel it shows a true American family living with, learning by and acknowledging the gifts they hold. It shows that interpretation and understanding is crucial and that even gifted psychics have families, lives, friends, jobs, financial and health issues… everything that comes with living life, gifted or not.

I must admit that I do get frustrated by the stereotypical, old-fashioned portrayal of Psychics as someone who watches your eyes and face, asks leading questions or somehow investigates you before talking to you. I can say that there are those citizens, who may take advantage of others, but they are not Psychics and are revealed as so. Spirit makes sure of that. Just like there are great mechanics, hairstylists, and others who state they are talented, we soon learn different. Until a few months ago, virtually all of Maxine’s (x7791) clients sought insight into affairs of the heart. Dating quandaries, troubled relationships, and wayward teenage children are all frequent themes encountered by Maxine, an advisor with Psychic Source.

That was before the economy began its downward spiral. More recently, she has been getting as many questions about purse strings as heartstrings, both from regular clients and from some who’d never imagined they would call a psychic.

“It’s not as though the love life calls have stopped, but a lot more of my regular clients are looking for reassurance about their money situation,” Maxine states.

She adds that she is also hearing some new voices at the other end of the line.

“I can’t tell you how many people have said, ‘I’ve never done this [called a psychic] before,’” Maxine says.

Other advisors at Psychic Source report similar upticks in the number of customers seeking clairvoyance on future finances.

Therese (x7215), a Psychic Source advisor who supplements her clairvoyancy with a master’s degree in psychology, says it’s normal for people to seek reassurance from outside sources when faced with increased uncertainty in their lives.

“It’s the economy right now, but this can happen in response to any trauma. Attendance at religious services goes up. More people call psychics. Whenever the normal rhythm of life is disrupted, people feel as though chance and fate are playing a larger role in what’s happening to them. The people who call [Psychic Source] want more access to that. They want certainty,” she says.

Therese takes her clients’ money problems very seriously.

“When someone who has lost their job or whose husband has lost their job calls me to find out what the future holds, they’re placing a lot of trust in me,” Therese says. “I’m providing them with a kind of counseling.”

Does that mean that Psychic Source clients have begun peppering advisors with requests for investment advice or inside information about the health of their bank? No, says Maxine.

“That’s not how most psychic advisors’ gifts work. Different psychics have different gifts, but I would wonder about a psychic who told me that she knew what my bank balance would be in six months,” Maxine says.

She is frosty to the suggestion that a psychic advisor may want to refer clients’ money matters to a financial professional.

“You know, everyone has tools and abilities they draw upon in their jobs. I understand how to use mine. If the Wall Street geniuses who made this mess knew how to use theirs, maybe I wouldn’t be getting so many calls about whether Aunt Tillie will be able to keep her house,” Maxine says.
