When Mercury goes retrograde, it basically scrambles information and just about everyone’s brain. Communication goes out the window, appointments are messed up, there are cancellations and postponements, computer equipment crashes (I own a lovely paperweight that used to be my laptop), projects demand more time, checks get lost, you find the car you just purchased during a Mercury retrograde is a lemon, that contract you signed was not at all what you thought it was – and the list goes on!

And when it comes to matters of the heart, if your boyfriend or girlfriend says something extremely hurtful or that they want to call it quits, take a breather and wait. Since Mercury rules all communication and speech, they may not mean what you think they are saying. Give them room, and wait to see if they really mean in early September, what they said during the retrograde. Also, don’t be surprised when someone from the past just happens to show up out of the blue at the worst possible moment!

And even though it is a big “no-no” to buy those big ticket items and/or sign any contracts or legal documents during a Mercury retrograde, it is a great time to do all your research and due diligence – before making your purchases and/or signing your John Hancock on that dotted line. In addition, it’s also a good time to get catch up on all of you old paperwork and even back taxes!

In order for us to move forward in our lives, we sometimes have to stop, look, and listen. Mercury in retrograde forces us to do just that. It has a way of slowing us down, so we can rethink and gain clarity on what’s not working in our lives. It gives us a chance to clear away the old stuff. And best of all – by clearing away the old stuff, we allow the universe to bring in “mo’ better stuff!”

So to in a nutshell, during the month, while Mercury is in retrograde, it is NOT a good time to:

·       Begin a new affair

·       Have sex for the first time with your new person

·       Buy or have repaired anything that has to do with travel (cars, planes, yachts, etc.); communication (cell phone); or anything that uses electricity in any form.

·       Say, “I do!”

·       Sign divorce papers

Now, the good news. Mercury will go direct! While it technically ends December 14^th   – there is a “shadow period” and everything finally straightens out around January 1^st.

Currently we have the Sun, Mercury, Mars and Jupiter all sitting in the water sign of Pisces. Jupiter is very happy here, in his own sign…and in this high dignity helps give a “neecha bhanga yoga” (relief from debilitation) to Mercury, as this is his sign of Debilitation.  Mercury exited Pisces and entered Aries on March 28th, but it went retrograde March 30th (until April 23rd).  Mercury backtracked into Pisces on April 2nd and remains there until May 10th. This happy Jupiter is very beneficial to Sagittarians and Pisces rising and Moon signs. MARS entered Pisces on Friday morning, March 25th, and will remain in his friend’s sign until May 3rd, on which date Mars enters his own sign of Aries.

Benefic VENUS will join the group in Pisces – its sign of Exaltation – on April 15th. It is most happy in this sign and will remain here until May 10th, giving yet another Neecha bhanga yoga to the debilitated Mercury. On the bright side, Mercury has gone direct again on the 22nd so that bit is pretty much over by the time the Moon comes in. When Mercury goes direct, it is still in the “shadow of the retrograde” for a while, so don’t expect an instant turn around.  But by the 29th things should be starting to get back to normal, at least as far as the retrograde goes, there are still six planets in Aries.

Now the big question: How will this affect you?

First understand that this energy is being felt by everyone, all over the world.  In that way it is sure to affect you through the people you deal with. The most intense degrees will be the 29th through the fourth degree in any sign.  The ones affected by Uranus and the planers that will join him this month will be felt most strongly with planets at this degree in Cardinal signs* and in Fire signs.**

In the same signs, Jupiter will be affecting later degrees.  Jupiter doesn’t really affect anything badly and it mostly is strong and positive.  So planets in later degrees in those signs will find things pretty lucky and generally pleasant in places.

Just remember that all of this energy is happening together, you can’t really separate it.

Any planet in these signs will be aspected by many of these energies as they dance through this month.  And don’t count out the other signs either, the aspects might be less intense, but you will feel it.

Adding to this 29th to 1st degree energy we have another really big change going on this month.  Over on the edge of Pisces, Neptune is moving into its own sign.  This will make it very powerful and Neptune’s power is an entirely different thing than the planets in Aries are bringing.

If you are holding on to any old emotional baggage, it is time to release it.  You don’t want to be carrying into the new cycle. You can’t swim through Aries, you have to be light and loose in the fire sign this year.

So, in preparation, the Universe has given you just the right energy to do Pisces in a big way, to let go of the little prisons you have made for your emotions and to really drop them off into a sea of transformation.

How is this done?  It starts with forgiveness.  It is not a confrontational forgiveness that just gets it going all over again in the same circles.  It is a personal forgiveness.  You just forgive the person who you see as causing the pain you are holding.  Then you release the energy.

This is about as far as I have ever written an astrology blog without mentioning which planets are where.  We start March with Sun, Mercury Mars and Uranus in Pisces.  This called a stellium, a concentration of planets in one sign. It emphasizes the energy of the sign. Mars is one of these planets; Mars is usually your power planet.  But fiery Mars kind sizzles and sparks in this much water, it can’t help you much.

Mercury is about thought and communications. Here in this sign he thinking about feelings, he doesn’t do that often or very well. The Sun in there and always the energy of the chart, it can handle the water very well, but it won’t let you pretend that these emotions are not there, he makes you focus on it.�

Finally, thee is Uranus, powerful change and transformation!  Uranus has been hanging around here for years, he knows the place,  he has recently had a visit from Jupiter and Uranus now has a chance to proceed with knowledge of the change that is needed.  But Uranus is impatient.  He wants the change now, and this is his last pass in Pisces for about 160 years!  You will feel pushed to change this emotional area during the first two weeks of this month.
