Recently, I had the opportunity to go kayaking with a friend.  We rented the kayaks and paddled for over an hour on a quiet canal — we felt as if we were in another time and place.  Thanks to the extreme heat we’ve been enjoying this month, the canal was lush and overgrown.  We were greeted along the way by birds, beautiful turtles, and flowers everywhere!  We also had the pleasure of observing how people live by the water. 

     After the first hour, we carried our kayaks to the river and we drifted downriver for awhile. This is the best part, just sit back, and look up at the trees, the sky, the beautiful clouds, and the awesome birds of prey dancing in the breeze!   I could paddle if I wanted to, but the current aided in getting me to my destination.   All I had to do was direct the kayak here and there, and submit to the flow of the river.

     Something magical always happens when I near the shore line and the water level is low — dragonflies by the dozen pay me a visit.   They are so beautiful, and sometimes they like to hitch a ride on the kayak or on me!  They are incredibly light and translucent — a beautiful transparent light blue.  What a treat!

     If I could, I would kayak every day of my life.  It brings me such joy and a sense of freedom.  The real beauty of kayaking is the reminder of how easy life can be when we let go and allow life to flow naturally.

     Deep inside the brain on a microscopic level, inside our 100 trillion synapses, it has been speculated that microtubule structures are functioning like quantum computers.  They look and behave like protons, where in experiments the protons are shown to be in two places at once.  Possibly, almost certainly multi-dimensional.  When the synapses fire off, it is in that brief show of fireworks they believe something remarkable may be going on. 

     Just one process being studied is something called non-local entanglement.  It shakes the very laws of physics as we know them.  Deep stuff, my friend!

     It may be possible one day for research to be done in the field of the paranormal to prove it’s not so ‘para’ after all.  The measurable electrical synapse functions that create brain waves may also be doing other things.  Our brain thinks in and responds to frequencies and electro-magnetic fields.   Everything is a frequency.  I mean, think about it.  Sounds, colors, microwaves, radio waves, rays from the sun… time and space.

     Are we, on a quantum level, actually tapping into some frequency?  Trillions upon trillions of synapses opening the door to knowledge out there on the universal information super highway.  One day, they may be able to map the brain functions of an experienced psychic to see processes going on in exactly what part of the brain.  I suspect studies will show these have a correlation with gifts we all have.  As we all differ genetically, psychics are as unique as snowflakes, and have endless combinations of gifts and talents. 

      How much more are we unaware of?  Will they ever find scientific evidence like a common genetic link?  What about varied or unusual chromosomes?  How about the instruction manual to our super quantum processors?  Anyone have one of those?  Think about it.  Everyone quantum space… time bending… seeing… knowing… hearing…

How cool is that?

As the Wort Moon of July waxes to full, it is a perfect time for gathering herbs.  The word “wort” is old Anglo-Saxon for “herb”.  One of the herbs I like to gather at this time of year is mugwort, also known as ‘ Magickal Mugwort”.  Mugwort grows wild where I live.  If you can’t find wild mugwort, you can obtain some from any herbal shop or online.  Mugwort is used for removing negative energy and psychic growth. 

Mugwort steeped in spring water is great for cleaning crystals and other scrying tools.  Using this same infusion for cleaning mirrors in the home is a good idea, as mirrors are said to hold negative energy.  A small pouch of Mugwort placed in the pillow and slept upon is said to bring lucid dreams.  Mugwort, when mixed with sandalwood and burned during meditation and scrying rituals, is said to increase psychic visions.  It is also useful to banish interference prior to divination such as a Tarot reading or Rune casting.  Mugwort kept with a Tarot deck will keep one spread or reading from interfering with the next.  This is just one of the many herbs you can gather at the Wort Moon.

As the Wort Moon draws near, we can listen for the sound of distant thunder that may bring a sudden summer storm to relieve the heat and quench the garden.  This is a magical time of year!  My wish for you and yours is love light and many summer Blessings.

I must admit, at first I resisted the idea of picking up the books, but after being urged to do so by a trusted friend, who thrust upon me copies of the Vampire Romance novels by Stephenie Meyer, how could I resist? And, I curse my friend to this day…because once I picked up Twilight and read the first page, I ate it up and greedily devoured the others – New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn, and even Midnight Sun – which is Twilight from Edward’s point of view – a work in progress in PDF format on Stephenie Meyer’s website.

I couldn’t get enough. I had to know what was going to happen with Bella and Edward, and Jacob and Bella, and would they ever get Victoria before she got to Bella?  Many nights I would be up until 2am, reading in bed, with my trusty book lamp lighting the way, while my husband snoring blissfully, and occasionally waking up, making sleepy comments about my obsession with vampires, which he still teases to this day.

As I reflect back on that reading addiction, and now, my impatience for the movie releases, I make feeble justifications for my temporary insanity…it is literature, it affects culture and societal views, and it appears to be encouraging the young and young at heart to read more. What is it about this series that is so compelling? I can’t put my finger on it.

So, did you rush out to see Eclipse? Did you watch Twilight and New Moon (again) before seeing it? Please tell me I’m not alone!

     Being that we are more than half way through 2010, this New Moon is a good time to assess where you are with all those New Year’s resolutions. Maybe you need to rethink what you thought was possible and set attainable short term goals. Another option, try something new to bring rejuvenating energy into your life, and release behaviors that no longer suit you or grudges that you’ve been holding on to. Confront those negative emotions, and get the support you need to reconcile them. If you are one of those people who have crossed off things on your resolutions list – celebrate those victories, and be proud of yourself! Take that momentum and keep going.

     How will you spend the remainder of 2010? What would you like to accomplish before we ring in the New Year? I know…on the East Coast we’re experiencing record high temperatures in the upper 90’s, and the thought of December 31st seems like a lifetime away, but just think how time has sped by since you rang in 2010!

     To help you get started, I thought I’d share my New Moon refresh list. I’m focusing on the little things that make me feel whole and good. When I’m happy and energized, I am at my best and available for others.

Here’s my list:

•  Be a better listener;
• Finish the Harry Potter series before the next movie comes out in October;
• Treat myself to a massage;
• Take Yoga classes at least 2x/week;
• Ask for help more often when I need it – team work is a beautiful thing;
• Cut down on my Cable News show viewing – I think it’s one of my unhealthy, guilty pleasures – more so than peanut buttercup ice cream;
•  Release unnecessary worries – today is the day I worried about yesterday, and today is a good day!

2 parts Thyme
2 parts Yarrow
1 part Cinnamon
1 part Clove

Procedure

Brew in boiling water for about ten minutes. Strain and add honey for taste if needed, do not add cream or milk. Use before divination psychic work, and astral travel to enhance the awareness.

Chamomile Lemonade Iced Tea

This drink is a perfect way to cool down during the summer months. For a twist, add the Chamomile ice cubes listed below.

4 Chamomile tea bags
4 cups cold water
½ cup sugar
4 cups prepared lemonade
Ice

Procedure

Steep tea bags in cold water for 2-3 hours in refrigerator. Squeeze and remove tea bags. Add sugar, stir to dissolve. Add lemonade, stir and add ice.
Makes a ½ gallon of iced tea.
 Enjoy!

Being environmentally friendly is easy when you follow some very simple guidelines for greener living.   Here are a few tips that will help you save money, keep your household happy, and lighten the load on the environment.

• Do not leave faucets dripping; always close them tightly after use. (One drop wasted per second wastes 10,000 liters of water per year.)
• Use environmentally friendly cleaning products whenever possible.   Here are a few sites that offer recipes for homemade cleaning products: EHow.com  and EarthEasy.com both provide resources for Home Made Cleaning Products.
• Use low energy light bulbs, which last up to eight times longer than ordinary light bulbs and can also reduce energy costs.
• Position furniture in your home to make best use of natural light.
• Rather than use bottled water, purchase a water filter pitcher, such as one offered by Brita, or put a filter system on your tap.   The savings will astound you!  I haven’t purchased cases of bottled water in over a year!  Financially, I am saving about $30/month.  Gone are my days of contributing hundreds of plastic bottles to trash heaps.
• Ditch those plastic store bags and purchase a few sturdy canvas bags that can be used for just about everything – including toting your groceries around.
• Reuse items such as plastic bags, jars and brown grocery bags.  I save Ziploc bags that I used to store items such as fruit or bread or crackers, etc.  I wash them with soap and hot water, and let them dry.  I keep them separate from the new bags, and use them for storing other items such as office supplies, nails and screws and other non-food related goods.  Same goes for spaghetti sauce or jelly jars – you’d be amazed at what you can do with these items!
• Switch off lights & machines when not in use.  The same can be said for items plugged in.  Do you keep your cell phone charger in the wall?  How about the toaster?  Are these items plugged in 24/7?  You would be surprised to learn that they are still using energy even if they are not in use.
• This is the easiest of all…when you are not in a room, turn off the lights.  I realized that when I am home at night, I turn on just about every light in the house!   I became really conscious of this over the past year.  Now it is a habit – the lights go off when I leave the room.

“Cat abuser gets caught and put in jail!”  This was a year or more of keeping spirits up and staying focused on right action to take place and to save kitties from being hurt.

“New job gotten after a long time of struggle in an unhappy environment!”  Now we are working on the new guy to come into her life.

“Girl gets guy after 6 years of flip flopping!”   They are married and working on a baby. I knew all along he loved her, I even said he loved her more than she loved him, and finding that he truly loved her was a day I will never forgot. They ran off to get married, what a hoot!

“Channeling a mom and asking for proof that it was her mom!”   This mom had a nose job back in the day when it was not popular. The caller told me her mom’s name and I saw the nose job – and we both knew it was her mom talking to her.

“Guy gets new house!”  My most recent, and one of my happiest moments was when my guy caller closed on his new home. It was a long struggle to find just the right place and buy all the great furniture. What a joy! This year, my guy will be bringing in the summer in his own most beautiful home. We saw, we came, and we conquered!

     This is the time of year when the the days are getting hot and humid. The birds are busy feeding their growing young. The tomato plants stand proud in the bright sunlight. We may even have an opportunity to slow down and enjoy the scent of freshly cut grass. The whole land is full of it’s own kind of summer magic. The Mead Moon is a time of metamorphosis. A time to reinvent our lives, to change what we need to change in our personal realities and become what we are meant to be at this space in our lives. This is a time when things come into fruition quickly.

     This is a great time to charge crystals and herbs to aid in meditations to bring about protection for our homes and families. Some of the stones that hold protective energy are Malachite, Apache Tear, Agate, Onyx and Obsidian. Cleanse your stones by soaking them in spring water and sea salt. On the night of the Mead Moon, place your stones on a piece of black cotton cloth and set it where it will absorb the light of the Full Moon. Retrieve your stones and bring them back inside before the first light of the morning. You now have a new tool to aid you in meditations and visualizations for protecting your home and family.

      There are many herbs that have protective energies. I like to use Agrimony, Nettle and Rue. Place a few pinches of the dried herbs into a small red cloth bag. Holding the bag under the Mead Moon, in your mind’s eye, see your home surrounded by a sphere of bright white light. Know this light is the protective shield of the universe. Using a small nail, hang one of these bags over each door where people enter or leave your home. While doing so, send a prayer out to the universe or to your Angels asking that all who pass through this door will be protected from any harm.

      During the time of the Mead Moon the the fireflies gather in the warm, June nights bringing joy and excitement to children and the young at heart. Fireflies or lightning bugs are also a symbol of growth. For those who can read the signs in nature, know that fireflies light up mostly while ascending. All children know that a jar full of lightning bugs are a gift from nature. Have your children catch a lightning bug or two in a clean glass jar. The children can whisper their secret wish to the lightning bugs and then release them. They can watch them light up as they carry that wish off to be heard by Mother Nature.
