According to the Chinese Zodiac, we say goodbye to the Year of the Rabbit and hello to the Year of the Dragon, Monday, January 23, 2012. The Dragon is the fifth animal of the Chinese Zodiac, which consists of 12 animals signs. A legendary revered creature of myth, The Dragon (made up of different animals such as a tiger, fish, snake, and an eagle) is the only animal of the Chinese zodiac year that isn’t real.  Also, the Dragon is not seen as a frightening evil creature – rather it is the ultimate auspicious symbol signifying success, happiness, outstanding luck, power, and wisdom.

While the Year of the Rabbit could be considered tranquil, the Year of the Dragon brings excitement, unpredictability, exhilaration and strength. Those with an entrepreneurial spirit are favored to see much success in the coming year.

Holiday’s are an opportunity to cherish your family. Family is agreed upon before you are born. You asked for these people to be in your life so that you could learn from them. Don’t get mad if the talk about you, frustrate you or challenge you. That’s what they’re here for. Families are a like in many ways. They talk about each other; venting, worrying, or simply trying to understand perspectives. It is best to just say how you feel; argue, compromise, and move on?

By moving on I don’t mean apart. (unless life is in danger.) I mean move past it. Moving apart doesn’t solve anything. What we don’t resolve; we take with us and repeat until we make it right. Forgiveness isn’t for the other person. It is for you. Holding in anger and resentment can block your energy flow and cause unhappiness. God forgives us all for what we do to each other. He will shine his light on any darkness if asked. We can forgive each other for being human and making mistakes if we respect that we all live, love, grow and learn differently. We are all on different paths. All heading towards enlightenment. Sometimes space is needed. If communicated and accepted with out judgment; it can be healthy.

Acknowledge each other at holidays, birthdays, special occasions and deaths. Send funny emails, kind notes; be pen pals. There are thousands of way to keep peace, show love and keep your boundaries. Remain real with each other. Accept each other for what you are; and love each other anyway. Make a funny; confront it; work it out, giggle, agree to agree or disagree and move on to whatever is next topic. Never for one second skip a beat in loving each other. Never give up on each other. In this or another life we are all together as one again. It isn’t perfect now but it’s all too short for it to matter. We are family. Family is forever. We forgive and move on knowing nothing can break us apart. The bond is more than blood and DNA. It is of energy and light connection. It can not be broken only blocked momentarily; if you allow it.

Thursday – Don’t let anything get in the way of taking care of yourself.  By taking care of yourself, everyone benefits.  Give yourself a relaxing sea salt bath, pedicure or massage!!

Friday – The Angels remind us that our loved ones are happy, at peace and love each and every one of us very much.  We are reminded to stop worrying about them!! 

Saturday (New Year’s Eve) – The Angel of Peace brings us new tranquility and is smoothing the road ahead for us.

Sunday (New Year’s Day)  – Have Hope and Faith, Because there is something positive and new on the horizon that we can’t yet see.

We all need to take a little time out to remember what the season is about in the first place.  Remember to love one another, forgive ourselves as well as others for hurts cause throughout the year. Remember to be grateful for the things we do have, we can see, hear, talk and smell. We woke up today, that in itself is a blessing. 

Before I get into the messages for each day for the week, I ask that you smile and say “Thank you” to each person you see and meet.  Yes it will surprise them and shock them, but hey, it might be the only thank you or smile they have gotten in a while. You may just make someone’s day, week, month or year.  If they as you why you are thanking them, tell them for just being you.  Thank you for existing and thank you for crossing my path today.  It will make both of you feel better!!

During a first-time reading with a caller, how do you familiarize yourself with their energy?
 
I usually start with a brief description of the past within the last year. I try to pull out the most obvious thing with a detailed description. I do this for a few reasons: The past can actually be confirmed and I can gauge how detailed I am seeing things. Also this is to establish a connection with the caller and establish a time line that leads to present and future events. I usually can get all of this accomplished within 30-60 seconds. I don’t believe in wasting a callers time and money on the past any longer than necessary, so I try to make that part quick. Also I can build credibility in that first minute which gives the caller a feel for me and my accuracy.

When did you really start to focus on your gifts & start using them in your everyday life? Can you share a personal story that demonstrates a first time?

I was born using my gifts. My grandmother told me stories about my infancy and the strange happenings that would occur around me. Things like noises and banging, objects moving, and strange singing around me when no one was in the room. When I was about age 4, I remember the light beings coming to me. There were 2 of them and they taught me how to astral project. I just thought I was dreaming until they came along. Next I was introduced to the elders. There were 6 angelic beings floating in white robes, but I always knew there were others. After that I can remember people talking to me all the time. Wherever I went it seemed everyone wanted to play with me or touch my hair or just sit and visit. I was an only child so I loved the attention. Sometimes the real people, (which is what I called them) would look at me strange and smile. I was 8 years old before I realized that they could not see what I saw. I thought everyone could see the dead. To me this was normal. Both my mother’s and father’s sides of the family have a long lineage of psychics and I was the first and only born to a duel psychic line. My mother hated it, my father was scared of it, but my maternal grandmother and my fraternal grandfather nurtured it. Without them I think I would have gone crazy and my psychic abilities would have consumed reality.

What’s one of the most memorable Psychic experiences you’ve ever had?

I have had many memorable and scary experiences to speak about, but the most important experience involved a family in need through our church. When I was 12, my mom got involved with a new church and charity work. One afternoon I had this feeling that I needed to be somewhere. I was riding the bus home from school and I just kept feeling this gnawing urge to search street names and house numbers. I got home and told my mom we needed to go for a drive, and that it was important. My mom was busy and blew me off. In fact she dismissed me most of the week. Finally after several days I got very angry with her and told her to get in the car and drive where I told her go. She had asked me why and all I could say was because we are suppose to. We got in the car and I closed my eyes and let the knowing take over. As I navigated her in my mind we finally arrived at a small white shabby house at the dead end of a street that had been re-routed during construction. The paint was peeling and it was almost a shack. Inside there was an elderly man and woman. The man had surgery several months prior and was bed-ridden. The wife could not see and no-longer drove. The old man took care of those things, but due to the surgery he required constant care himself. They had a daughter, but she left town with her abusive husband. Home health care had run out for this family and the wife could not get to the bank to cash the social security checks to pay the bills or buy food. The electricity had been shut off and they had not eaten in 2 days. Sitting in the driveway, my mom began to cry. The church had assigned her to this family to help assist them with food and resources. The church and my mom could not locate this couple because they had moved into the shack with their daughter and she took off. They moved in after the money for home health care ran out, but no one knew where they were. My mom told me she had been looking for this couple for weeks and had given up. I felt proud to help this couple and to be the one to find them. This experience impacted me profoundly and I realized what good I could do with my gift. I studied psychology and worked in the field of Mental Health. My first counseling job was working with a State Independent Living Center and Vocational Rehabilitation. I worked with patients who had a duel diagnosis with mental health and a physical disabilities.

Has anything in your own life, affected your gift, whether it be a family member who was a psychic or a run-in early on with a spirit or ghost?

As stated earlier, I was born from a long line of psychics. However just because they had the gift didn’t mean they all used it or talked about it openly. It was okay to develop it so long as no one knew. We could use it in the family but I was not to discuss it with friends or outsiders. During my teen years my abilities were difficult to control and it was like a constant storm of poltergeist activity in my home and in my head. I began teaching myself tarot and meditation to better control my gifts. I learned that I was also an Empathic and that my gifts were tied to my emotions. More gifts came in my 20′s and 30′s, but by then I had a better handle on things. I had also had met a few others like myself.

What’s one commonality you have noticed amongst your psychic peers, other than the fact that you’re all extremely gifted?

We all know what it feels like to be different and to be lonely. We tend to battle depression and get overwhelmed by crowds. We like things quiet and need a certain amount of alone time. A lot of us grew up judged and feared by others. We all went through a period when we felt like freaks and just wanted to be normal. What we came to realize along the way, is that this is normal for us. Once I wished my gift away because of this. I was going through a difficult time and prayed for 3 months for God to take it away. He did for 2 weeks! It was silent in my head, I couldn’t feel other people or their emotions, I couldn’t hear the thoughts of crowds, I could hear only 1 thought. Mine! I almost went crazy and I begged and begged for God to give it back. I never wished it away again. I couldn’t understand how anyone could function without the knowing, the seeing, and the hearing. I have never wished it away again and I never will.

If you could pass out some words of wisdom to those going through a difficult time, what would you say?

I always tell others to trust their own intuition. Your first instinct is almost always the right one. I had a powerful vision in my early 20′s that has stayed with me strongly. In this vision God floated down from the clouds on a feather bed, wearing a loin cloth and smiling. He said, “ If I judged as harshly as you did, then we would all be in Hell”. I realized that many of my difficult times were self created and based on judgment. Be patient with yourself and others, change takes time. Also take care of yourself. Its okay to have needs and put yourself first sometimes. The one person that needs to love you the most is yourself. Don’t obsess with worry. My husband always says, “Worrying is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but it doesn’t take you anywhere”.

With the holidays coming up quickly, will you get more calls about family stress? What do you tell clients when they call concerned about family drama during the holiday?

I don’t think I will really get anymore calls than usual about family stress. When I do get those calls I always stress the same thing. Set good boundaries and stick to them. Don’t waiver on this. Communicate clearly about what you are willing to do and enforce consequences if those boundaries are violated. If you are overwhelmed and can’t handle it, then take what overwhelms you out of the equation.

Revenge, jealousy and spite are often interwoven and sometimes out of our control.  Depending on the situation, a lot of times this is a karmic lesson one which has strong connections to another time and place in this life or many lives before now.  Situations which involve jealousy directed or misdirected are hard to detach from and require clear decisive action and work on your part to dissolve.  It isn’t easy to resolve and it may require more the one attempt, but in the long run clearing the issues of jealousy away in any situation is freeing and will leave you feeling less in cumbered. 

Revenge and spite sometimes go hand in hand with jealousy.  Revenge/spite can prove to be a very heavy burden to bare.  The energy you exert on getting revenge or being spiteful is exhausting and energy better directed for positive feelings.  Just as frowning takes its toll on your facial muscles and smiling takes much less effort, so does revenge versus energy directed for good. 

The most important thing to remember when pursuing negative feelings such as revenge, jealousy and spite is the repercussions; Yin and yang.  Think of it like throwing a ball against a wall –  it has no place to bounce, but back at you and depending how hard that ball is thrown can be that much more hurt for the person throwing the ball.

So the next time you experience “STRONG” negative feeling such as Revenge, Jealousy and Spite, take a step back, take a deep breath and consider what you are feeling and why.  Karmic lessons are difficult and can resolve themselves, especially if you take time to understand what is happening and accept it for what it is.  You can choose not to throw the ball.  The choice is yours.

In my house around Halloween there is a great festive feeling.  We love doing up the house for the neighborhood kids and passing out candies to all the little goblins and fairy princesses.   We also enjoy telling “ghost stories” and other supernatural tales.  It just gets everyone into the mood of the day.   Here are two stories of the unexplained that I would like to share with you.

The Black Dress

This was related to me by a close friend and I always think of it around this time of year, Halloween.   My friend was full of stories and psychic energy and always had a tale or two to share. 

Emma Bean had a terrible nightmare.   It was vivid and painful.  She had dreamed that her favorite cousin, Eddie, had been killed.   The nightmare left her weak and crying.  It had seemed so real that she had to call her mother and make certain that Eddie was all right.  Her mother assured her that he was fine and she only had a nightmare.  Her fears alleviated, Emma forgot about the dream and continued on in her day.

Several days later, Emma awoke from a sound sleep, convinced she had heard Eddie whisper something in her ear.  Again, it left her frightened but she hardly wanted to call her mother again risking looking foolish. 

Later that same morning Emma suddenly felt an overwhelming urge to make a new dress for herself.  In itself, this was not unusual because she was an excellent seamstress and often made her own clothing.  She shopped for and bought several yards of a modest black fabric and when she returned home set to work on the creation of the dress.  Emma rarely wore black, in fact, she had not worn anything black for years.  She diligently worked on the dress, hour after hour, and did not stop until it was finished.  It felt almost like a compulsion, she just couldn’t relax until the last stitch was set in place.

The very next day, Emma’s mother called her and before she could even finish her sentence, Emma knew where she would be wearing that black dress.  Her cousin Eddie had been killed in an auto accident the day before – when she had awaken hearing his voice in her ear.  She long believed that he was saying “good-bye” to her.

Psychic Joseph sat down with us and really opened up about his Psychic mentors, the Spirit of Halloween and how he puts an optimistic twist on receiving bad news. 

Do you remember your first Psychic encounter? What happened?

I was 5 years old.  Our neighbor next door had a dog named Mr. Chips.  Mr. Chips was missing for two days and the neighbors had looked everywhere they could think to look.  I was sitting in my bedroom thinking about chips and heard a voice say “look under the porch”.  I looked under our porch and the neighbor’s porch just to find nothing.  That’s when my attention was drawn to an old abandon house on the other side of the field behind our house.  I looked under the old weather beaten porch and found Mr. Chips.  He had a broken leg.  I ran to the neighbor’s house and told them.  They took Mr. Chips to the vet and he wore an awkward cast on his right hind leg for a while but he healed and was good as new.  We never did find out how Chips had broken his leg but where happy to have him back.  

Who’s the most influential teacher you’ve had?

I was blessed to be raised in a family where my Mother and Grandmother were both professional readers.  They started teaching me Tarot and symbolism at a very young age.  I had had quite a few spiritual teachers over the years. However the “most influential teacher” I’ve had, would be my Grandfather.  He would take me out in the woods and we would fish, pick wild berries, or just walk.  The whole time he was teaching me about our Earth Mother and her many wonders.  He showed me how to read the signs in nature, Know what the weather would be from watching the animals and insects. We spent a lot of time with him showing me herbs and plants that were used for healing. He showed me what the Earth can provide on a mundane and spiritual level.  I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren and try to show them all the wonders of nature that my Grandfather showed me.   My Grandfather would always say “listen to the trees and voice of the nature spirits”.  Even now when I walk in the woods, I can feel my Grandfather’s presence as I listen to the language of trees and the voice of the forest.

When you connect with someone, what sensations do you get?

As soon as I hear a caller’s voice I start to get an idea of why they are calling.  Sometimes it is just a feeling, other times I start seeing images in my mind right away.  Sometimes I get a feeling of sadness, joy or excitement.  Sometimes I will see images of things that are going on in their life.  Each reading is different and the sensations I get when first connecting will be different as well.

What do you tell your clients who are disappointed with a particular piece of information?

I wish all the information I give clients could be good.  However, sometimes I have to tell a client something that they will not like.  I explain that the future is not written in stone.  That is the whole reason to get a reading.  My Mother always said “to know is to advert”.  If a client likes what we see about a Particular aspect of their life, then they should keep doing exactly what they have been doing.  If they don’t like what we see, then they can make a slight adjustment in the path they are walking and that will surely change the outcome.

 Is Halloween a special holiday for you, due to the veil between this world and the spirit world being at its thinnest?

Oct. 31st is a very special time for me.  I do acknowledge the Holidays of the western world, but I celebrate the Holidays of the agricultural calendar.  Oct. 31st is Samhain pronounced “Sow-wen” or in Gaelic “shav-nah”, meaning 3RD Harvest or Final Harvest.  This is the end of the “lighter half” of the year and beginning of the “darker half”.  The veil between the world of man and the realm of Spirit is the thinnest at this time of year. This is a time that I set aside to commune with those who have passed over.  I have a room in my home that I use only for prayer, devotion and meditation.  Oct.31st is the only time that I eat in this room.  On the night of Samhain eve, I prepare a meal of pork and greens.  I partake of this meal in a very quiet and serene manner.  During this meal, more often than not I receive messages from those who have passed.  This tradition is known as “Dumb Supper” or “Feast of the Dead”.

During the month of October, do you feel more connected with Spirit?

Not really “more connected”, as I feel connected to spirit all year long.  The veil between man and spirit is the thinnest from mid Oct. until the Winter Solstice (Yule).  There is more spirit activity at this time of year.  The animals are more sensitive to it than I am.  Sometimes the dogs will bark at a movement in the house and the cats may display unusual behavior.  Mostly for me the month of Oct. is a time to give thanks and bid farewell to the Harvest, a time to prepare for the darker, colder months to come.

Did you always feel as though you had special abilities or did it sneak up on you?

I have been gifted since I was a child.  My first sighting of spirit happened at age 7 when my grandmother who had just passed away appeared to me.  My deceased grandmother wanted to let my mother know that she was okay. 

I suppressed my gifts after being chided in middle school for being “different” and “seeing spirit.”  After my near death experience, my gifts reemerged stronger and in full force.

When you connect with someone, what sensations do you get?

I basically use all my five senses plus the unseen ones.  The ones termed extrasensory perception. 

What do you tell your clients who are disappointed with a particular piece of information?

I tell the client diplomatically and with empathy.  I try to tell the client that it is better to know now rather than later.  If they are asking me a question in the first place, they themselves have some clue using their own intuition that something is not quite right. 

Is Halloween a special holiday for you, due to the veil between this world and the spirit world being at its thinnest?

Halloween is like any other holiday in my opinion.  Yes the veil between this world and the spirit realm is thin.  I have had more spirits appear to me during this time than any other.

During the month of October, do you feel more connected with Spirit?

I feel connected to Spirit most of the time.  I do not need a particular month to help that special connection.

At what age did you realize you had Psychic abilities & what were they?

I was 15 and started having friends around. I’d never really spent time outside of school with my friends before that age. So, at 15, as I’m spending time with friends and they’re coming to me with problems at home or with their boyfriend/girlfriend, I always knew the situation even before he or she would speak it. I just felt so intune with them as they were talking and I would mention things about their lives that they had not previously told me — and in many cases had not ever told anyone. At the time, I didn’t really give it much thought, I just used the knowledge I had of them to help them in their times of crisis. Soon, I was known as the ‘mom’ of the group and people I didn’t even know would come to me with their problems. 

Does anyone in your family have these abilities? Did you bond over these abilities?

My maternal grandmother always talks down about psychics and acts strange when the topic comes up. Her words and actions lead me to believe that she also has some abilities but was either reprimanded for them or was simply discouraged from ever acting on them.

Did you ever get into any trouble or out of any trouble because of your psychic abilities?

Not that I recall. However, my children have gotten in trouble because of them. (lol)  

What would you tell someone who was skeptical of Psychics?

I would encourage him/her to open their mind, relax and just try a reading. Unfortunately, many skeptics are so steadfast in their belief that a reading would be difficult as they unknowingly have built up psychic walls that make it difficult to read them.  

Is there a way for someone to ‘sharpen’ there psychic abilities?

There are a few very good subliminal CDs that have helped some of my clients to build on their own natural abilities. I’m sure there are ‘exercises’ one can do that would help as well; however, I’m not aware of any.  

What is your favorite Psychic gift and why?

Although I do not like to use it often because it is so draining, I really enjoy being able to contact people from the other side. I’ve never been able to contact my own mother who died in 1987, although she has spoken to me briefly with messages for my youngest brother. I know what it would mean to me to find someone who could contact her so I can ask her a few questions. So I can only imagine how I help my clients when I’m able to contact their lost loved ones. I know it often means everything to them.

Do you have a particularly interesting/amazing story where you helped a customer/friend/family member using your psychic abilities? 

Yes, the first time I realized I could contact people who have passed! I had a regular client who would call often wanting to know about any new man coming into her life. I could tell she was very depressed and everything in her life was dependent upon a man coming along and basically knocking on her door and sweeping her off her feet. (she rarely left the house) Four sessions in a row, I would describe a man I was seeing around her and I would even give an actual name, Roger. His name and description were crystal clear to me but she always said she didn’t know anyone like that or with that name. Again, this went on for four consecutive sessions. When not talking with her, I would often hear, “He’s her father.” But I could never get anymore than that so I didn’t know just whose father “he” was or even who he was. So, this client calls me one day and I could see her depression was extreme. Again, I talk about Roger and she finally says, “Well, that was my dad’s name and my brother is also named Roger.” Bingo! I described the man again and she said the description matched her father before he died. At that time, I realize I’m talking with both of her deceased parents and I relay everything I get from them to her. By the end of the call, her spirits were lifted and she was actually happy. I later learned that she was fully intent on commiting suicide depending upon the outcome of that particular reading.
