We caught up with Psychic Dona, a psychic empath who has an upbeat and positive way of looking at things. See what she had to say about the New Year, her clients and what she sees coming!

1. What New Year resolutions did you come up with for yourself?

I decided not to make a New Year’s Resolution, but to set mini weekly goals instead!!

2. Have you ever completely reinvented yourself, figuratively speaking?

Yes I have, a few times actually.  As life goes on I feel that we all reinvent ourselves as we grow and evolve. Each day is a new day and the ability to start over.

3. What advice do you give to people who have had their trust broken by someone they love?

Do not ever give up on love. Love is all there really is.  Forgive those that have hurt you and forgive yourself for allowing it to happen. Love without conditions because loving unconditionally is exactly that, loving without conditions.  To get hurt is human.  The heart heals as you love. The more love you give out (with the heart not the body) the more you receive. 

4. Have you ever been completely surprised by a client’s outcome?

Yes I have!! I had a client once that asked for some advice in regards to a bad marriage.  I told her to follow her heart, not to settle but to compromise if she felt she could, to stand her ground.  She is a very quiet person and very peaceable.  She is a shadow so to speak.  She actually stood up to her husband and told him “no, that his friends could not come over and destroy the house. they had to be in the garage.”  The guys made that  their “mancave”.  She is no longer cleaning up after him and his friends.  I am so proud of her.

5. One thing you’re predicting in the Year 2012? 

I predict that we are having a Spiritual awakening.  People are opening up themselves to be more open to messages from God/Goddess and the Angels.

Instead, I chose to “cancel them out”, by being the kindest, most generous, loving, supportive person I could be. I took the raw passion that was the fuel for my resentment and transformed the energy into something positive. It was the most important choice I made in my life. Since then, I have always been the person I want to be. And I am blessed with an abundance of loving relationships in my life. Just a few short years later, I realized I had had my “revenge”, but chose to continue my approach because I enjoyed it!

The most empowering ability we have is CHOICE. We can CHOOSE how we’re going to respond to events and others, rather than to just allow ourselves to be molded by them. You get to chose who you’re going to be. In essence, that’s all we really have any real control over. If you let someone being unkind or careless to you make you act unkindly or carelessly, then you’ve let them win. You’ve taken their resentment in and made it your own. But you can choose to be you. You can choose to be who you want to be, and to act as you’d like to act.

The two main reasons why people act out are:

1) To express their own pain and anger. The way they treat others is a measure of their own pain. You have to get it out, somehow, whether through talking about it, walking it off, going to the gym, or painting it. Some people just make the unhealthy choice of taking it out on others, often because they simply don’t know any better.

2) Misery loves company. Miserable people feel better when others feel their pain or are equally miserable. They feel like they’re not so alone in their pain this way. But by raising your own vibrations, by channeling love and kindness through you, and showing them you’re not going to let them bring you down to their level, you may be able you help them rise to yours.

Developing and using this ability to CHOOSE in life is so incredibly empowering, it opens up the deepest states of joy in being who we are, because this is what we’re here for. You’re here to be you. Yes, absolutely, we make mistakes–but when we do this out of conscious choices that we make ourselves, we feel capable of taking full ownership of and responsibility for these mistakes and learn well from them, rather just blame them on events or people outside our control. We actually LEARN to MAKE BETTER CHOICES from this! How incredibly simple is that?

You may hear me say, “It sounds like you want me to make the choice for you” in a reading. This is because I don’t want to deprive you of the opportunity that’s present, the choice to be you. The moments where I may be vague are moments when I see opportunities for you to grow, learn, and SHINE by making your own choices. I believe in the power of choice! That no predictable event is inevitable, as long as choice is present. I don’t see events as being dependent on outside circumstances, but a series of choices that you make. Your choices are everything, and absolutely make a difference!

Sunday (New Year’s Day)  – Have Hope and Faith, Because there is something positive and new on the horizon that we can’t yet see.

Is the new year a good time to start something new and if so, why?  

The New Year is a great time for new beginnings and fresh starts. It is one of the best times to look at renewal of energy and commitments to yourself; such as health, spiritual growth, and better communication.  As the year ends with reflective energy, we can find ways to refocus and work toward manifesting the new aspects that we desire in our lives.

What would you tell clients who are looking for a new love or maybe even a new ‘spark’ to their current relationship in the New Year?

In regards to new love or creating a new “spark” to a romance, the fresh start or new beginning energy the New Year brings will help with clearing out old energy and pave the way for a fresh attitude for you in the sense of relationship. If you are seeking a new level of love or a brand new love, I would advise to begin with a “wish list” of the qualities and attributes of your heart’s desire. When two souls agree to come together in a loving way, the ability to manifest a healthy spiritual, emotional, and physical bonding will seem effortless and bring in a sense of completion for both souls. In the physical world this translates into “falling in love and staying there”. Relationships are at times “work” but the aspect of love from the soul on both sides enables us to “work” through the challenges and remain in Bliss.  

Forming a bad habit can often be easier than creating a new one. With the New Year around the corner, do your customers ask about creating resolutions? What advice do you give them?

As you put your resolutions in writing, a collage, or visual notebook, treat them as a new contract with yourself and strive to follow your own “rules” or guidelines. As you intend to replace old patterns with the new, you will notice that repetition or practice brings in the new energy and flat lines the old.  I would also begin by creating a space for clearing or ceremony to create clean slate energy in order to begin anew in a positive way on a spiritual level. 

Do you have any tips for creating a ‘New State of Mind’ for people who may be in a rut? 

1. Make a conscious decision that you desire change. 

2. Pray and meditate to open new directions on your life path.

3. Connect with those who are like minded for support.

4. Practice manifesting your heart’s desire, whether it be in work, love, finance. It is your heart speaking to you.

5. Try something new; add a new experience to your being.

This week, Psychic Michaela took time out to sit down with us to discuss New Year’s resolutions.

New Year’s resolutions are tough to stick with. What advice would you give to callers who really want to stick to them?

New Year’s Resolutions are a clever way to procrastinate and justify why a person has not met their goals or followed through on projected plans from the previous months or even years. I don’t encourage the idea of a “New Year’s resolution” because of that very reason: those don’t stick. Having a New Year’s resolution connotates pressure to live up to this particular commercialized day assigned by corporations. It creates a collective effort and removes personal responsibility. It robs a person of their authenticity, and it makes it easier to not tune in to a particular time that a person’s true self needs to make a change. My advice is to chose a random day before or after New Year’s and call it “your new goals”, or something along those lines- and do it when it’s right for you. As always, the right time is always now, so even if your resolve seems overwhelmed by time, money, people or other circumstances, start small. It is very important to take even the most minute step and do it 20 times if you must until you get to the next level. Chose easier goals first, and prove to yourself that you can indeed handle those. This will better prepare you for more challenging or intimidating ones to come, at any time of the year.

Angels send us messages every day. We just don’t always listen.  I am just as guilty as everyone else!

So here we go, Angel Messages for the remainder of the week, all in one place!!  As I am sitting here asking the Angels for their guidance they are reminding me to breathe and smell the Christmas tree and the flowers.   This time of year we all get a little stressed with bills, buying gifts, family and friends invading our homes and things at the office getting a little tense as everyone starts to get a bit snippy and short with each other. 

We all need to take a little time out to remember what the season is about in the first place.  Remember to love one another, forgive ourselves as well as others for hurts cause throughout the year. Remember to be grateful for the things we do have, we can see, hear, talk and smell. We woke up today, that in itself is a blessing. 

Before I get into the messages for each day for the week, I ask that you smile and say “Thank you” to each person you see and meet.  Yes it will surprise them and shock them, but hey, it might be the only thank you or smile they have gotten in a while. You may just make someone’s day, week, month or year.  If they as you why you are thanking them, tell them for just being you.  Thank you for existing and thank you for crossing my path today.  It will make both of you feel better!!

Do you have any stories that involve using your Psychic gift around the holidays?

One evening, as I was frantically shopping for some last minute gifts, I was sitting in my car and heard the most heavenly choir. It was very subtle, like background noise amongst all the traffic and shoppers. I looked around as I got out of the car, but saw no carolers, no music blaring from outdoor loudspeakers, no source for these beautiful voices at all. Everywhere I went that day, I could hear them, all day. I realized these were angels I was hearing!! I was so excited, and eager to share this experience with my family that night. Ever since then, I have heard angels sing on holiday evenings–and it always happens subtley and suddenly, when I’m not thinking about it.
 

New Year’s resolutions are tough to stick with. What advice would you give to callers who really want to stick to them?

It’s all in the mindset, and self-image. We have to stop thinking of ourselves as the way we have been, and think of ourselves as the person we want to be. Some examples are: to stop thinking of yourself as a smoker who’s quitting, and start thinking of yourself as a non-smoker. If you want to eat healthier or exercise more, don’t try to approach these as outside habits–act as if these are part of your daily routine already. Visualize yourself as the person you want to be. Then act as they would act. If you fall off the wagon, just begin again. Behave and act as if the desired change has already happened. Once this becomes normal, going back to the old way will feel unnatural.

Also, use positive affirmations. Listen to your internal dialogue. Replace “can’t” with “can”. You can do it!

A support network is crucial–tell as many of your friends and loved ones about your resolution; many will help you stick to them. Avoid those with shared bad habits that might cause you to relapse.

The energy changes in February and March, so don’t expect things to be the same. You may be off on an easy start through January, but fall back when February rolls around–be prepare to defend and uphold your new habits! It can be as simple as that–being aware that terrain ahead is going to change–that can help you stay on track, rather than passively neglect your resolutions with time. It’s like surfing; when the waves change, it’s easy to just let yourself slide off the board, but if you know it’s coming, you prepare to stay on it.

They say communication is key…what do you suggest to clients/callers who are having a difficult time communicating with their significant other?

There’s a lot I could say about this. I definitely want to reinforce the advice that’s often given: develop your listening skills, make “I feel…” statements, eliminate your own “mental chatter” when the other person’s speaking. Don’t assume anything; listen to what’s said, not what’s heard.

But the most significant progress in this in my own life comes from a very specific approach. It’s really speaking from the heart and allowing yourself to be vulnerable, because vulnerability’s what it’s all about. The moment you go in with shields up, you’ve cut yourself off from a genuine and unique learning experience, both about the other person, and about yourself. We are all beings of divine light, capable of communicating in ways incomprehensible to physical understanding. Use them. We’re already one, in spirit, so this is really only about talking with other aspects of ourselves. Talk to them as you would talk to yourself. Listen to them as you would listen to yourself. Don’t even bother trying on a lower level. If you want to get through, do it from above, from your highest inner spirit. Do it with kindness, love, compassion, and empathy. And, of course, always mind your manners. Communication is a sacred act–treat it as such. Others will intuitively recognize this, and tend to follow suit.

In essence, I liken it to the traditional Indian greeting, Namaste, which means “the divine spark within me acknolwedges the divine spark within you.”

Dance, and I reluctantly went along. This very handsome man came up and asked me to dance. I danced with him, but wasn’t really into it. I wouldn’t even look at him as we were dancing. He asked me why I wouldn’t look at him, so I took a look. Wow, I thought, he really is quite handsome, and had the warmest eyes I had ever seen. He kept up conversation after we danced, and I realized that I liked him a lot. This man turned out to be the man I married. We have been married for 33 years now.

So, You see…….It can be a magical time of year. Don’t turn down any invitations because your sad. I truly feel that God watches over us and gives us what we need in certain times of our lives, when we feel that all is lost.
