     We’ve all done it. We dial the phone with excitement, looking forward to a reading with a psychic who can help us, and the call ends, leaving us feeling dejected. This is disappointing, for all parties involved – the caller and the psychic!   Don’t worry.  Here are some tips to help you get the most appropriate reading possible.

1) Know what you want.    Have an idea of the answers you are seeking, otherwise, even if the psychic answers them, you will not understand what you’ve been told.  If you don’t know what you want how will you recognize it when you hear it? There is no point to a psychic talking about past lives if you want a love and relationship reading.  Make those desires known.   Also, have some idea of the type of reading you would like. When you go out to eat, there is no point ordering off the Wendy’s menu when you’re at Long John Silver’s!  Likewise, if you’re seeking an angel reading, there is no point choosing a psychic whose specialty is Tarot.

2) Choose the right psychic. It is very hard to put a square peg in a round hole. All genuine psychics have a true desire to help people, but at the end of the day, psychics are people, and not everyone is going to get along with everyone else. If you are seeking a straightforward, no-nonsense answer to our question, then choose someone who shoots straight from the hip. If you’re feeling vulnerable, and just need someone to listen, then choose someone who resonates with gentleness and compassion.  Finding a psychic is like finding a hairdresser; one you find one you love, you stick with them!

3) Know the tools.  The label ‘psychic’ covers a broad spectrum of skills and talents, just as the label ‘doctor’ or ‘teacher’ does. However, you probably wouldn’t go to a history teacher with an algebra question.  Different psychics work with different tools, and have different skills with those tools. If you’re seeking to know how someone feels, choose someone whose skill is empathy, rather than totem-sight or past-lives.  So, if you are seeking information regarding someone who has passed, look to a psychic that specializes in Mediumship, not one who finds lost objects.

4) Give it time. It is very challenging for a psychic to be answering a question on relationships and the client has already moved on to asking about their finances! Most psychics work with energies, and when that energy is moving so fast it becomes disjointed — like pieces of a puzzle rather than a whole picture. Give the psychic time to respond, and to answer each question thoroughly before moving onto the next issue.

5) Be honest. While psychics are energy-workers, they are not miracle-workers. Most are not mind-readers or fortune-tellers, but rather, they are counselors in the mystic arts. General readings are just that — general. They may or may not apply to us depending on our perceptions of the current situation. However, explain the situation to the psychic at the start of the reading, then the psychic can look for specific information to bring answers to your questions. The more open and honest you are with the psychic; the insights become more personalized and detailed. If you have someone listening in on your psychic reading, be sure to let the reader know – this will help the psychic and ensure they are working with the right energies.  A reading is a two-way conversation that provides insight and perspective to our current situations.

6) Don’t throw it away.  There are going to be times when, even if you’ve been as open, selective and receptive as possible, the reading still didn’t quite seem to apply to your current issues. Rather than throwing away the information and blaming the psychic for not having any insight, simply place the information on a shelf, and turn your attention to other things. I don’t know how many times in the past I’ve had a reading that did not seem to make sense to me at the time, but a few weeks or months down the road it certainly applied to my life. There is no timing in awareness, and sometimes psychics see things before you have even considered them.
