It’s Cinco de Mayo; a time of celebration! Today, we recognize Mexican heritage with fiestas, parades, and delicious cuisine. To honor the culture, we came up with a list of trivia for the Holiday. Fun facts about Cinco de Mayo and Mexican culture…at your fingertips!                       

Cinco de Mayo means the 5th of May in Spanish.

The Holiday celebrates a four hour victory over the French and is also known as the Battle of Puebla.

Mexico declared independence from Spain on August 24th, 1821. 

There are over 365 Mexican festivals each year.

Mexico is the largest Spanish speaking country.

The world’s largest Cinco de Mayo festival, known as “Festival de Fiesta Broadway” is held in LA and has more than 600,000 people in attendance.

 What will you do for Cinco de Mayo?

Try cooking a fabulous Mexican dish.  Check your local city for Cinco de Mayo celebrations. Dress up in traditional colors!
