Writing to others about life experiences is a joy bringing me closer to my spiritual center. Business and the arts took center stage in my younger life. My father being the founder of Snapple gave me strong roots in the business world. I became a make-up artist and hairstylist with a career spanning twenty years both in New York and California. This gave me a great education in that i got to talk to many different people everyday in-depth reinforcing my psychic knowledge base. I lived on both coasts and for seventeen years shared ownership of a kennel allowing me to make deep connections with animals. Much to my chagrin the competition is very weak this year… I had to fast forward through quite a few of the performances as it seemed like it was armature night at the Apollo and not the hottest show on TV (where millions of people watch to see who the next singing sensation and recording artist will be). I only remember a few of the singers and not because they were great but because they were terrible. How sad is this – is it fixed? Do they tell these young singers to hold back until the show really gets going and by that I mean down to the twelve that really got the pipes to bring it home.

With Ellen DeGeneres sitting on the panel of judges the kindness is there but the truth is even she had to dig to find good things to say like, “you look so cute, America will love you!” One has to remember this is not a beauty contest – this is a singing competition. With all the singers they went through during auditions, I wonder if they made the right choices. The panel during auditions kept saying this is the best group ever, come on have you heard Adam Lambert and the guy who won last session?

I am just happy that I have a DVR and can record the shows and bypass all the personal stories and bad performances. I also wonder why some of the kids look like a deer caught in the headlights! Some of the makeovers were like make-unders especially, for the guys. And I don’t know about you but the blond guy with the guitar is just not that hot as Kara DioGuardi fans herself and appears to be losing control while he sings…

Randy Jackson has not yet went into “dawg” mode but it is coming, some things never change – Simon Cowell is going to be missed next season as he is honest and brutal enough to say what he really thinks, giving true critic to the up and coming singers.

I wonder if his new show “The X Factor” will cause “American Idol” to fizzle out.  They better get someone really interesting to be a judge on “American Idol” or it will be in trouble –
This year they say the girls have the power to make it to the top – this is one thing I am in agreement with. My favorite is the hippy dreaded haired chick with the guitar and harmonica. She can blow… and in a good way… not like the rest of the show!
