I love the movies; I love being swept away by the amazing beauty, stellar acting, fantastic music and heart pounding story lines. It is fun for me to be able to cast my unofficial psychic vote for the winners of this year’s golden statue named “OSCAR”.

Best Picture
Avatar
The Blind Side
District 9
An Education
The Hurt Locker
Inglorious Bustards
Precious
A Serious Man
Up
Up in the Air

Putting my psychic mind to work and meditating on what the academy will do with a total of 10 nominations is not an easy task. One must put all the factors together in what makes a winning movie, most are thinking  “The Hurt Locker” will take the other 9 nominations down, well not me… my psychic vote is for “Inglorious Bastards.”

Best Male Actor
Jeff Bridges – Crazy Heart
George Clooney – Up in the Air
Colin Firth – Single Man
Morgan Freeman – Invictus
Jeremy Renner – The Hurt Locker

I know most are thinking that Jeff Bridges will take home an Oscar to go along with all the other awards he won for “Crazy Heart” – but on a psychic note my vote goes to Morgan Freeman for “Invictus” giving him a pair of the lovely golden gods to balance out his many accomplishments.

Best Female Actress
Sandra Bullock – The Blind Side
Helen Mirren – The Last Station
Carey Mulligan – An Education
Gabourey Sidibe – Precious
Meryl Streep – Julia & Julia

Big, big, big upset…. Gabourey Sidibe is taking it home baby… who would of thought that Jennifer Hudson would come home with an Oscar? This category is for the BEST not supporting as it was for Jennifer but in the same respect it is a beautiful thing when a new comer can take home the gold. Anyone want to place a bet (wink)?

Best Supporting Male Actor
Matt Damon – Invictus
Woody Harrelson – The Messenger
Christopher Plummer – The Last Station
Stanley Tucci – Lovely Bones
Christoph Waltz – Inglorious Bastards

I am not going along with the favorite here (Christoph Waltz).  To easy and we need some surprises -
My love for Woody Harrelson compels me to cast my vote for him. One of the best actors of our time… my runner up vote goes to Stanley Tucci but I can see Woody Harrelson for “The Messenger” making his acceptance speech as clear as I see my computer screen.

Best Supporting Female Actress
Penelope Cruz – Nine
Vera Farmiga – Up in the Air
Maggie Gyllenhaal – Crazy Heart
Anna Kendrick – Up in the Air
Mo’Nique – Precious

Mo’Nique of course is going to get this… hands down. And how lovely it will be to see both Mom and Daughter (in the movie “Precious”) both get a thrill of a lifetime, I cannot wait to hear her acceptance speech, get the tissues out there will not be a dry eye in the house.

Best Director
Kathryn Bigelow – The Hurt Locker
James Cameron – Avatar
Lee Daniels – Precious
Jason Reitman – Up in the Air
Quentin Tarantino – Inglorious Bastards

Okay, I am all for the first woman to win an Oscar in this category yet my psychic vibrations are telling me that Quentin Tarantino for “Inglorious Bastards” is going to bring home the gold. What an upset this is going to be, bringing down the house.

Best Original Screenplay
Mark Boal – The Hurt Locker
Alessandro Camon & Oren Moverman – The Messenger
Joel Coen & Ethan Coen – A Serious Man
Pete Docter, Bob Peterson & Tom McCarthy – Up
Quentin Tarantino, Inglorious Bastards

With all due respect to the other nominees my pick is Quentin Tarantino for “Inglorious Bastards” – look folks it is the year of the Tiger and the rebellious non- conformist energy is running high – but not as high as Quentin is going to be when he gets handed the OSCAR.

Best Adapted Screenplay
Jesse Armstrong, Simone Blackwell, Armando Iannucci & Tony Roche – The Loop
Neill Blomkamp & Terri Tatchell – District 9
Geoffrey Fletcher – Precious
Nick Hornby – An Education
Jason Reitman & Sheldon Turner – Up in the Air

With the universal year being a three I truly see Geoffrey Fletcher for “Precious” getting an Oscar in this category making three of the handsome statues for this incredible movie.

Music (Original Score)
Avatar – James Horner
Fantastic Mr. Fox – Alexandre Desplat
The Hurt Locker – Marco Beltrami and Buck Sanders
Sherlock Holmes – Hans Zimmer
Up – Michael Giacchino
My musical psychic vibrations are with “Avatar” James Horner.

Music (Original Song)
The Princess and the Frog – “Almost There” (Music and Lyric by Randy Newman)
The Princess and the Frog – “Down in New Orleans” (Music and Lyric by Randy Newman)
Paris 36 – “Loin de Paname” (Music by Reinhardt Wagner, Lyric by Frank Thomas)
Nine – “Take It All” (Music and Lyric by Maury Yeston)
Crazy Heart – “The Weary Kind”  (Theme from Crazy Heart)” – Music and Lyric by Ryan Bingham and T Bone Burnett

Clapping for Nine “Take It All” by Maury Yeston

May the night be as bright and beautiful for you watching the Oscars on TV as it is for the nominees.
It is a night to show off our royalty and give praise of the highest to those who make our lives transform, if even for an hour or two while engrossed in the art of film.

Good Luck to all -
