Do Something for You this Winter Solstice
21st December, 2009 - Posted by Psychic Source
It’s the Winter Solstice and this means quite a few things…
For one, it’s the shortest day of the year and the longest night of the year. Pack as much as you can into today; you’ll get to have a nice long rest afterwards!
It’s also a very sacred time for many cultures who welcome back the Sun and light. In Latin, Solstice means Sun set still, which describes winter. It’s the time before the earth settles in for the winter slumber. Everything regenerates and gathers energy from the earth, so that growth can occur in the spring.
On the heavier side of things, Winter can often seem to drag on, draining us of motivation, creativity, willingness to get out of bed! The lack of sun often slows us down and makes us feel sluggish.
During the Winter months, starting on the Winter Solstice, there are a number of activities that can benefit you, whether you have a case of the Winter Blues or not. Try a few when you’re feeling glum or for an extra boost!
Take a walk…even if it’s brisk! Bundle up and breathe in that invigorating air. Make it short, make it long, just get outside with nature.
Stretch. When you’re feeling like shrinking back into the covers, stretch!! Reach all limbs as far as you can, getting the blood pumping.
Make something. Whether you’re a baker, a quilter, a cook, an artist, or just pretend to be one, pouring energy into a creation is a surefire way to stimulate your happy genes!
Meditate. Sometimes removing yourself from the physical here and now helps you gain a new perspective.
Do something nice for someone less fortunate. It’s often easy to get wrapped up in our own worries and doubts. Reaching out to help someone else takes the focus off of you and puts it back into the Universe.
Enjoy the Winter Solstice!
