About: Hello – I am Maxine a psychic and writer. My passion for the spiritual arts and writing serve me well in this venue. Writing has always been an intriguing aspect of my life, the Internet gave me a new and exciting way in which to communicate with others all over the world. In 2001 I founded e-groups, “Sangha for Independents” also “Buddhist Inmate Sangha” (sangha means community) these groups provide a community for those who practice independently. We support the practice by sending books and writing letters to prisoners who wish to know about Buddhism or are Buddhist and have no one to share the practice with. Writing to others about life experiences is a joy bringing me closer to my spiritual center. Business and the arts took center stage in my younger life. My father being the founder of Snapple gave me strong roots in the business world. I became a make-up artist and hairstylist with a career spanning twenty years both in New York and California. This gave me a great education in that i got to talk to many different people everyday in-depth reinforcing my psychic knowledge base. I lived on both coasts and for seventeen years shared ownership of a kennel allowing me to make deep connections with animals. No I’m not Santa, I am a psychic – so what does a list have to do with anything? Well, when I was a kid my dad (who I thought was brilliant) studied metaphysics.  This was during the 60’s, when the peace sign and the age of Aquarius was upon us and I being the hippy chick that I was, was drawn to the unknown and new wave trends in thinking.

I was taught to make lists by watching my mom, who would make lists to go shopping for food – this is a common thing, one which most people do when they go food shopping. Yet the reality is, making lists can be so dynamic and an actual practice in organization not only useable in a trip to the store but in creative visualization, accomplishing goals and getting what you want from life.

One day my father and I were talking about love. I was without a boyfriend at the time and my dad asked me what I liked in guys.  As I told him, he made a list for me; this was fun and taught me that food is not the only thing you can shop for. As I came to realize the power of making a list, I began to keep a list journal, instead of crossing out the accomplished items on the list I put a little box next to each item and would check them off. At night I would go through the lists and feel really good about what I had done. If I did not get to an item that was on the list I would forward it to the next day’s list – or even eliminate the item if it was too far-fetched or not needed anymore. My taste in men changed with my awareness of love and I was able to maintain worthy relationship with people based on what I wanted in a relationship, with honesty and trust being at the top of my man list.

This blog topic was brought on by thinking of my weekly list of callers; even when a call is over, the thought process continues for me in finding solutions and answers to questions in a psychic way. So what I do is when someone comes to mind I write down the name of the person; by the end of the week I have a great list of people that I have at one time spoken with, including some of the ‘a’ ha’ thoughts that came to my psychic mind.  It is a beautiful thing when I get to put a check next to the name of a person I have spoken to again. This has been a gift of mine for many years, as I could feel friends and family coming to visit or call hours or even days before they knocked on the door or the phone rang. 

Lists give you a mental sense of organization – they allow one to empty the mind of the daily stuff and focus more on the task rather than remembering what one has to do. Lists are also a way to tell the Universe what you want, kind of like a prayer list.

Mastery Through Accomplishment ~ by Hazrat Inayat Khan is a book that came on my path a long time ago and it gave my list making more meaning, in that at the end of the day I was able to look at my list and all the checks in the little boxes helping me to realize that I was growing, achieving and becoming skilled.
