The Life Span of a Psychic

Today in meditation, my thoughts traveled back in time to when I first started doing psychic readings – and I thought how organic and uncontaminated those readings were, in that I was so new and read more from pure insight then knowledge of the oracles.
As I delved into the realms of the psychic world I found ways to use my abilities to better my life by doing readings for prospective men as well as friends in general. This gave me a great foundation in which to develop my abilities. I was able to tell who was going to enhance my life or enable me to go in a direction that perhaps was not the best for me; as such my readings became a way of protection. So here I am being very selfish in an unselfish way as I did not charge for these readings; I did my best to answer questions and help those I read for. It was also so much fun using my talents as a way to connect with my clients at work (at that time I was a make-up artist and hairstylist).
My thirties became a more grounded time as I had studied for thirteen years – astrology, numbers, tarot and Chinese astrology. With my knowledge base growing by leaps and bounds I found new interest in this work and began to barter my readings rather than get money for them, which at the time I thought was so cool because after all being able to do readings was a gift from the Universe and why should I get paid money – how unspiritual would that be!
Then came my forties – maturity and a connection of my knowledge base seasoned with a growing wisdom brought more people to my door for readings. This was a time where the Internet really took me places in the psychic realm with e-groups and chats. I was able to pull up a chart in a matter of minutes rather than looking in books to do hand drawn charts. This was a blessing of great magnitude and I was able to teach basic astrology along with tarot to people who wanted to know more about the psychic line – which was booming. I think my forties were great because I reached a point where I was knowledgeable enough to share information with confidence. This also put me in touch with many readers both young and mature who I am still connected to today.
Fifty seemed to come like a flash in the pan – the seasoned forties were now only a memory as I was going full force doing only readings as my career. I got to do local cable TV and along with the psychic line I was feeling no pain… life was good…
9/11 changed my world forever and I went home to New York. Readings became very different as the climate and energies were much different and the questions that were asked of me brought me to a deeper, more profound place in life. Compassion was my mantra as I helped many sort out the issues of the day. The book “The Power of NOW” by Eckhart Tolle began to fly off the shelves and if you wanted one of these books you had to wait for an order – how funny was that waiting for a book about the NOW? It was however a very helpful book to share with callers.
Now that I have made it to sixty, I feel very complete. I think that I wanted to write this because I was thinking about all the different readers we have on Psychic Source and the age range of us all. I think that aging is a gift – and getting a reading from a seasoned reader will be different from someone who is just starting out. Different in that the newness is organic and pure in energies, while the seasoned is full of experienced wisdom. Both ways and all in between are brilliant – so enjoy the range of readers and don’t be afraid to try the youth as you will be amazed. I cannot say that I am actually any better at doing readings then when I was young just more experienced in life. I feel the basic difference would be about fashion, style and art/trends of the time of the day in the moment, yet the craft of reading is timeless, boundless and without limits – after all it is a circle of life and that circle encompasses that spirit…as young or old a reader it is kind of a conundrum because as readers we are all old souls and bring the information to you first class.
