August’s birthstone is: Peridot.

Peridot in the past had been mistaken for other gems or minerals. The colors run from lime green to olive green in color. Many of the emeralds in the treasures of Royalty have been later found to be peridot. Other minerals peridot can be confused with are apatite, moldavite, garnets and tourmaline. Peridot is found on many countries but most of the market is filled by 80-90% of total gems coming from the state of Arizona. Although higher quality peridot comes from abroad, the stones mined in the United States bring the price down so it is economically available to anyone.

Peridot is the only gemstone found in meteorites. Although this is rare, sometimes it is facetted and set into jewelry. Of course being from Outer space those pieces of jewelry are quite expensive. The metaphysical properties help us with emotional balance and heal past emotional wounds.

Peridot helps us to make good decisions in relationships and gives a bit of common sense when dealing with love relationships. During the Roman times it was worn to prevent depression. Wearing this stone is thought to bring you good luck , peace and success.

This is my birthstone and I have one handy when I am doing readings. It is a stone that keeps me focused, open to receiving messages, and able to communicate with my client during their psychic reading. Happy Birthday to all born in the month of August.
