Karma: The Law of Cause and Effect – Kindness

14th November, 2008 - Posted by Maxine x7791

November 10th – 16th is WORLD KINDNESS WEEK and perhaps a more mindful approach to life will aid in the nature of humankind. The energy we put out comes back to us as “what goes around comes around”. It is hard to feel kindness towards those who hurt us or we dislike. For this week make an effort to be a part of the betterment of the world by being kinder.
There are many sayings in regard to kindness to make us pay attention to this act of blended emotion and intellect. While some of these sayings are religious in nature, your spiritual beliefs or religious denomination is no matter. The law of cause and effect is ever present.

I don’t know about you, but when I first discovered the reality of Karma, I was nervous thinking about the impact I have made in this lifetime and others that brought me to this station in life, some of which, I’m sure have created struggles. It has been said by Buddhists that I know, that “the joy is in the struggle”. This does offer me some relief and gives me the energy to plug along on my life’s journey.

Being a spiritual psychic, even I have my challenges! I had my karmic kindness tested even just this morning. I had an issue which I needed guidance, and yet my karma (causes in life) would not allow me to get what I thought I needed on the spot. So, I had to do other things to get myself together and shake the bad feeling. By nature I am a very kind, giving person, but if put to the wall, I have a sharp way of rebounding, which I do not like about myself. This morning I needed to vent, so I did my tai chi workout and morning prayer called gongyo which helped by being kind to myself. Interestingly enough, it is what led me to writing this blog! “They” say when you help someone get what they want, you get what you want. This is so true. It is an act of kindness in two directions.

The lesson I learned, when I could learn to let go of something that was bothering me, I actually took my power back! It eliminated the negativity energy and left me feeling quite good. There are times that people want to do acts of kindness for us and we might feel odd or unworthy of their generosity, and not allow it to happen. In reality, we are interfering with another person’s ability to bestow kindness, thus stopping the flow of kindness. When someone wants to be kind to you, it is an act of kindness. Allow them to be, and make it a double act of karma kindness.

For me, kindness is better felt when giving, how about you? Realizing that everything we say, think and do is under the influence of cause and effect should make us mindful of all that we do. What a nice thought… and if we all acted out of kindness we would be a better world.
