Stop Making Excuses and Start Making Time

Every day we face an inner battle between our body and our mind. Your body tells you one thing and your mind is telling you another.

It’s always something!” This is what I hear all of the time. It’s true! There is always something that doesn’t go as planned or something to go wrong at any moment. In fact, it happens so much, we forget about the little things we would like to plan. Cleaning out a closet, reading a new book, taking a night out on the town, taking a vacation, spending more time in the gym, etc….. We all have some goal on our mind in which we would like to accomplish. So why not just do it?

“I’m just too tired today, so I’ll do it tomorrow.” Or “I just don’t have time for myself.”

These are all examples of excuses.  These excuses are pushing aside the goals your body is telling you to strive for. Somehow by making these excuses you are telling your body “NO” and that “everything will be ok.” But let’s think about it. Is it really ok? Do you feel that you have reached your goals? Do you want to ignore these thoughts? If you answer “No” to the last question, then you are on the right page.

Every day we face an inner battle between our body and our mind. Your body tells you one thing and your mind is telling you another.

Let’s say you feel the need to go to the gym, and your mind tells you you’ve had a long day, so rest. This is a problem, but there is a solution to every problem. Your body wants to be worked, and your mind is overworked. What better solution do you have other than going to the gym to give your body what it needs, and throwing on some good music to give your mind some peace?  Problem Solved!

Now, you want to pick up that book, but you have been doing physical labor all day (or all night) and all your body wants to do is shower and sleep. You tell yourself you will do it tomorrow, as if tomorrow is going to be different. What better way to relax than reading that new book? Who cares if you fall asleep on it!

So instead of making excuses, let’s start assessing the problem, and finding the solution. Once you find the solution all you have to do is make time. Make it happen! Don’t let the opportunity pass you by!
