Who is right for you... a Psychic or a Medium?

Many people believe that a Psychic and a Medium have the same gifts when it comes to readings, but there actually is big difference between what a Psychic and a Medium does.

While mediums are psychic, not all psychics are mediums.
It’s true. When clients ask me to connect with departed loved ones, I usually tell them: “I’m Medium Rare.” While I may be able to see and talk with the other side, I’m not a “medium-on-tap,” like some of the other wonderful mediums here at Psychic Source, and I just leave it at that.

The distinction between a psychic and a medium may be subtle, since they both work on the same level, but there are fundamental differences between their abilities and gifts.

What is a Medium?
First of all, mediums, who are clairvoyant, do the exact same thing as a psychic; however, the intuitive messages they receive are usually from communicating with spirit guides, angels, teachers and loved ones who have crossed over. They do their readings through the information they receive.

A medium also reads messages from the spirits in the afterlife and transmits those messages or signals to the client. The messages are usually clear and need little translation, since the information includes abundant validation letting the client know that the medium is legitimate. Mediums also use a number of different methods to achieve their connections, including meditation, shamanic journeying, and chanting, to name a few. Basically, a medium serves as a channel between the world of the living and the afterlife, which in most cases is beyond the abilities of a psychic.

OK, so what is a Psychic?
On the other hand, the word “psychic” comes from the Greek word, “Psyche,” which means “breath of life,” as well as, “breath of soul or spirit.” A psychic connects with a person’s soul, through the client’s aura energy field (which is really an extension of the body), and reads information about the person’s past, present, and possible future, depending on what the client wants to focus on during their reading.

A psychic reads and processes the insight they receive concerning relationships, career, money, or love, and then translates what they pick-up into real-life everyday language and meaning. While many mediums cannot read Tarot Cards or harness the power of other spiritual channels, such as crystal balls, runes, or oracle cards, a psychic can and will.

Which Type of Reading is Right For Me?
When psychics give “a reading,” they are basically reading the client and their aura energy field. When mediums give “readings,” they are relaying messages from the other side. However, that’s not to say that one is better than the other. It comes down to what the client is looking for in their reading. If you want to talk with your late Uncle Charlie, ask a medium. If you want to know what your boss/boyfriend/girlfriend/ex-boyfriend/ex-girlfriend/etc. is feeling, ask a psychic empathy.

Try at least one of each type of reading and discover the differences for yourself!
