Don't invade your lover's space

Betsy and Frank had been dating for a couple of months when Betsy felt she was becoming an afterthought and being ignored. When she questioned him, Frank reminded her that he’d been busy the last couple of weeks writing a report for the CEO, and that he was not ignoring. At lunch, Betsy confided in co-worker Alison who gave her a suggestion. “You have to remind him that you’re still around. You have to let him know how he’s making you feel. My idea, write a note telling him and leave it on the windshield of this car – that way you’ll know he’ll get it. I’d also leave a little something to show you care.”  Later that night, Betsy wrote her note, snuck into Frank’s garage and left it, along with a small teddy bear, on the windshield of his car. The next day Alison asked Betsy, who looked like she’d been crying, how everything was going. “Horrible,” sighed Betsy. “He sent me a text this morning saying it was over. He also called me a stalker. I poured my heart out to him, I don’t get it.”
Okay, so here’s what just happened.
While most men are practical when it comes to relationships and dating, many woman want romance. The idea of waking up and finding an unexpected note with a gift from a guy is a very romantic idea and gesture that many women would appreciate, since it shows that someone took the time to go out of their way to let them know that they care.
That being said, the idea of someone leaving a note and stuffed animal is a gesture that Betsy would want from Frank. This is something she would want.
Men are very territorial. Instead of seeing the gesture as romantic, most guys would consider the act an invasion of privacy and an invasion of space and, in some cases, a reason for a restraining order.
So, the moral of the story: Guys don’t like when women invade their privacy, which can also include checking his mobile phone, eavesdropping on conversations, and wanting to know his whereabouts. Most men find this behavior to be obnoxious. They feel as if they are losing their freedom and men love freedom. A guy will drop a girl like a hot potato if he feels that they are invading his space.
